Even though I got my free iPod Shuffle a few weeks ago, I never had a chance to try it out. Its little green box has been sitting on my desk, so when I forgot my big iPod in the Sienna, I figured it’s time for the Shuffle. I unpacked it, connected it to my PowerBook, and sync-ed up some music. After four hours of charging the battery, the Shuffle was ready for a lunchtime stroll around historic Palm Circle.
The sound from this thing is amazing! I assumed a small, cheap item meant small, cheap sound quality. Nope, high notes, low notes, all good to my untrained ear.
This music player is so elegant and so effective that I have to rethink my iPod use. The Shuffle is great, actually it’s insanely great!

Yup yup! The shuffle is awesome! I love the long battery life! Kinda wish the ff was a little better. Make sure you buy a protective case for it. I dropped mines and it landed right on the corner so it has a small kine chip. Might not be the greatest for podcast though. Great for the gym or running.

What case did you get for your Shuffle? Any recommendations? Anyone want to split the purchase of a 3-pack? Isn’t it like $20 for one case, or $30 for three cases?

How long do you guys go before recharging? Not sure if I have a dud, but seem to be going orange pretty quickly.
So far so good, but I’ve only used it for about one hour. Was still green after that.
A dud? You got it for free, but you may want to check out Apple’s discussion forums to see if anyone else is having issues.
