December 2005

If 2005 was a good year for you, good news! You can cherish it for a little while longer. The introduction of 2006 will be delayed by one second to compensate for changes in the Earth’s rotation. So the last minute of 2005 will have 61 seconds.
Rejoice! Okay, your extra second [...]

Was flipping through Midweek the Weekend edition and came across the Menage column. According to Melisa Uchida, local radio dee jays, Hawaiian Ryan, Kid Leo, and Sam the Man, are leaving Hawaii to take the morning slot for WIRED 96.5FM in Philadelphia. Three suggestions to increase traffic to your website. Here’s the real short version:

Use Technorati tags
Use Feedburner
Use Trackbacks

I’ve been playing around with Technorati tags but not sure what to make of Feedburner. I don’t quite understand what it’s supposed to do above and beyond RSS feeds. I don’t use Trackbacks (not sure if [...]

What happens when family members give Lotto scratch off game tickets as a Christmas gift? Watch our very own home video to find out.

Oh yeah, QuickTime required for viewing and give it a minute before the movie starts playing.
So cruel, but not as bad as this guy (lots of profanity).

Continuing the marketing challenge of Shaq and Kobe, let’s look at my favorite, shoes, aka kicks. Shaq versus Kobe, Round 2. Sorry, but no contest in this one.
Shaq’s affordable $40 Dunkman shoe available only at Payless Shoes sends out a positive message. But it’s uuuuugggggllllyyyy. No matter how dominating Shaq is, [...]

It seemed strange at the time, but I did experience Apple’s updated checkout system called EasyPay during the Holiday buying period. With a wireless device, a cashier scans your items, swipes your credit card, and you’re done. A receipt is sent to your email address.
It was easier than waiting in that long checkout [...]

Something you don’t see everyday… For quite a while, our street intersection didn’t have a street sign after a motorcycle accident took it out. Yesterday, a road crew came by and in about 10 minutes had a new sign up.

With the frosty breakup of former Lakers teammates, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, many story lines about the two keep popping up. Sure, sure, there was the anticipated Heat vs Lakers game on Christmas Day that the Heat won, but how about other perspectives?
In NBA jersey sales, the Miami Heat jerseys were the best [...]

According to NBA sales figures, the jersey of Dwyane Wade is the best selling jersey this year. The jersey of the Miami Heat guard, nicknamed the Flash, beat out the usual A.I., King James, Starbury, Kobe, Shaq, T-Mac, Melo, TD, and Vinsanity.
With the combo of DWade and Shaq, the most popular team jerseys belong [...]

Don’t know how legit this local story is, but Tannya Joaquin from KHON reported it so maybe there’s some truth to it.
A Mililani mom bought her son a video iPod from the Ala Moana Wal-Mart for Christmas, but when he opened the box, he found a piece of mystery meat (spam?) wrapped up instead of [...]

Haven’t tried it out yet, but the sole purpose of Handbrake Lite is to convert DVDs into iPod-sized movies.
Read the product description, it’s pretty funny.

You would have thought that with all the family Christmas parties, there would be lots of leftovers. No such luck this year. No leftovers but one tired, over-stimulated baby. So we had to go support the Kailua economy by buying lunch.
Tried out a new pizza place in Kailua, Mama’s Island Pizza, and [...]

by Gee Why on December 23, 2005

Don’t know when this came up, but I googled Club 939 and see they have a web site now. (If you have trouble accessing the site, try using Google as a proxy.)
Pretty basic site, but they’re listed first in Google’s search results, and that’s a good thing.
Some minor suggestions for the site. Change [...]
