The “Are Private School Alumni Cocky?” poll has ended, and the results are in. The people have spoken and said we are cocky.
60% of the responses say we’re cocky with a single no vote! One single vote! 30% of the votes say we’re all equals. Six of the voters went to [...]
The Tabasco Man lit a match, and I’m going to fuel the fire with this poll that asks: –>After voting, please add a comment (anonymous is fine) indicating whether you went to public or private school. You can be specific about the school if you want.
Poll closes on January 15. Flame on!
On Friday, Apple’s stock surged 12%, valuing the company at $72.13B. At the same time, the value of Dell was $71.97B.
Steve Jobs wrote an email to Apple employees that said:
Team, it turned out that Michael Dell wasn’t perfect at predicting the future. Based on today’s stock market close, Apple is worth more than Dell. [...]
I picked up a copy of iLife 06 from the Ala Moana Apple Store and am building a site on .Mac. I’ve only played around with it for a couple of hours so I’m no expert, but I did make some observations:
Too Much Control. You can and almost must control everything.
Publishing Speed. [...]
Hot water. Never knew how important it was and how hard it is to find. Heating up milk or preparing baby formula? Need the hot water. Pay for a cup of hot water? Youch!
But there’s Starbucks. Lots of hot beverages there. Lots of Starbucks springing up all over [...]
I was watching the Tyra Banks show (really), and Pimp Your Ride host, Xzibit, was on. He was talking about his kicks he’s designing for Dada shoes. The name of the shoes? Pimp Your Kicks.
No thanks, I’ll pass.

Even though the Macworld Expo is over, there continues to be rumors about potential future Apple products, namely an Apple branded cell phone or maybe a Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) cell service. Apple already owns the domain name iphone.org (redirects to Apple.com) and has recently filed a trademark for the phrase “Mobile Me.”

So we know actors from the TV show Lost like to speed in Hawaii. Cynthia Watros who was charged with a DUI lost her driver’s license yesterday in court. Her DUI cohort, Mayte “Michelle” Rodriguez, has her trial scheduled for March.
If you take TheBus enough, maybe you’ll see them going to a shoot. [...]
Even with the increased performance, the new MacBook Pro has some unresolved shortcomings compared to a PowerBook G4. Henry Norr got a chance to look at the new MacBook Pro and made some observations that may scare people away.
No FireWire800. While I don’t rely on this, I do have a FW800 drive. [...]
webmonkey has a quick review of Apple’s new web authoring app, iWeb.
Read Apple’s iWeb Promises Blogs for All. Sounds like customization of iWeb’s products is possible. Best if you have a .Mac account to publish your iWeb site but not absolutely necessary.

Recently, Coffee Bean & Tea had coupons in Midweek promoting their new Kailua store. Pretty good coupons, one for every week of January. Then, in the mail came a Starbucks buy one, get one free coupon for the Kailua location only. Coffee love or competition?
Starbucks rarely has these types of promotions. [...]
While I like ecto and use it to create these Blogger posts, it does have its idiosyncrasies which get annoying. Stuff like messing up ordered and unordered lists and adding extra linefeeds. I wanted to give MarsEdit a try, especially since they have a new version out. Initially, MarsEdit had issues with [...]
That’s right. According to Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, the new Intel-based Macs can run Microsoft Windows. Sounds like you have to tinker around a bit, but it’s not impossible.
The switch could technically and theoretically allow a person to load Windows onto a Mac computer, although the user [...]
Microsoft is giving away Flip4Mac, a QuickTime plug-in that’ll let you watch WMA and WMV files in QuickTime itself.
Should be useful when visiting web sites with embedded Windows Media files.

The Hawaiian Electric Co. is asking Oahu customers to conserve electricity starting from today. Due to routine and emergency maintenance, power is in short supply.
Or perhaps, the very day that the lame name (but screamin’) MacBook Pro was announced and the PowerBook line was decommissioned, HECO took a shot at Apple by having Hawaii [...]
Also announced at today’s Macworld Expo is an iPod Radio Remote that adds FM tuning to your iPod.
Yeah, yeah, not that big of a deal, but check out the FM station used in the graphics – tribute to Club 939? Or homage to the dominating Wake Up Crew?

My top reasons why I need to get a MacBook Pro.
White spots. My current PowerBook suffers from the dreaded white spots on the screen.
Lessened battery capacity. My current PowerBook battery is down to 69% of full capacity. Might as well get a new laptop with a new battery.
More drive space. Running [...]
