At work, do you show these traits?

demanding
poor as team players
uncompromising
disrespectful
intimidating
emotional
uncooperative
defiant
erratic
driven to succeed

If so, congratulations, you may be a select few high-maintenance employees who could be “innovators and the people who are most often responsible for a business’s success.”
Silly me, I had it all wrong. These guys at work aren’t turds. They’re actually high-maintenance [...]

Researching Searching

by Gee Why on February 12, 2006

in Uncategorized

Looking at adding a search feature to Pulpconnection either via Google AdSense for Search or Technorati. I’m starting to forget about posts so I figured a search feature would help me find stuff on my own site.
I briefly tried adding Google’s search, but it seemed like this was a typical Google search, scouring the [...]

Seems like the visual design of web sites is becoming simpler. Web Design from Scratch lists common traits of good looking sites. The rundown:

Simple layout
3D effects, used sparingly
Soft, neutral background colours
Strong colour, used sparingly
Cute icons, used sparingly
Plenty of whitespace
Nice big text

I like this statement:
In general, the more white space the better. It’s very [...]

Possibly THE Video iPod

by Gee Why on February 10, 2006

in Uncategorized

Rumors around the Net are talking about THE video iPod. If rumor is right, the current video iPod is only a placeholder for this baby. The click wheel has been virtualized into a 3.5-in screen covering the entire front of the iPod. Could very well be a fake, but there’s been rumblings that Apple [...]

After talking to a couple of folks who use Google’s advertising services, I decided to check out the Google AdSense program. "You Can’t Shine a Turd"

by Gee Why on February 9, 2006

in Life, Pulp

“You can’t shine a turd,” an old salty dog tried to explain to me, then a young, naive whippersnapper. I didn’t understand what he meant, but as the years went by two plus two started to equal four. As an older, not-so-naive whippersnapper, I have sadly come across several individuals who fit the [...]
