It’s the last Sunday of the month, and that means Club 939 switches venues, changing into a nightclub. Tonight starting at 10pm, “The Heavens” with DJs K-Smooth, Technique and Sonic will be ripping it up with the house go-go dancers.

Back in January, Coffee-mate had a public contest to choose the next coffee creamer flavor. The contest is over, and America has chosen Coconut Creme and Vanilla Chai Spice as the newest additions to the Coffee-mate family.
I haven’t tried either of them yet but did manage to pick up one of each at our [...]

In a Funk

by Gee Why on April 28, 2006

in Uncategorized

Been in a funk recently. Not sure exactly why.
Maybe the loss of talent to hopefully prosperous projects (or at least one with a decent gym) is part of the cause. Maybe I had too many run ins with people who take our motto to heart. Maybe the discussion about anal sacs threw [...]

Only Asian on Top Chef

by Gee Why on April 27, 2006

in Passion

Another entertaining episode of Top Chef played on Wednesday night. Last week, snack king Miguel was booted off the show for being Top Sous Chef and not Top Chef. In this week’s challenge, Wedding Bell Blues, the Chefs are asked to plan and cater a wedding for a gay couple. But [...]

Maybe it’s time for an intervention, but I’m even more concerned about the well being of the Tabasco Man. His hives are still afflicting him which forces him to take some potent medications like steroids. These ‘roids are definitely affecting the Tabasco Man’s physique. The flu recently got him, and he needed [...]

Pimped Out Kicks

by Gee Why on April 27, 2006

I don’t know how I missed these, but earlier in the year, Dada announced their Code M line of kicks. These bad boys have an MP3 player integrated into the shoe. Plays about 100 songs with a six-hour battery life and USB for recharging. There’s Bluetooth for wireless headsets or built-in speakers [...]

In the early seasons of MTV’s Pimp My Ride, flat panel displays, XBoxes, and PS2s were the hot additions to any pimped out car. Now, the accessory of choice is the iPod.
In the upcoming season of Pimp My Ride, one third of the projects will feature an iPod. It’s about time, Xzibit!
Man, they [...]

What’s a Wiki?

by Gee Why on April 26, 2006

Had an (long) meeting at work today about a bunch of stuff. Some highs, but mostly lows. What was funny was the topic of wikis came up for use to build a collaborative web site. Only thing is, the IT people in the meeting didn’t have a clue on what a wiki [...]

I just got an email update from Kicks Hawaii with these new Nike SB Dunk Low Premium “Golf.”Probably, a little too aggressive and radical for endorsement by Michelle Wie, but then again, she could be a trend setter.

The University of California, Berkeley, now has “Berkeley on iTunes U,” a free service that allows you to download course lectures available both on and off campus through Apple Computer’s iTunes Music Store. Pretty cool. Now while you’re driving to school or running on the treadmill, you can be listening to your class [...]

I think this is a new edition to the iTunes Music Store, NBA video podcasts. Even better, these recaps and highlights are all free! You can subscribe to these free podcasts, and iTunes will automatically download new content as they become available.
Go relive Lebron’s triple double, the resurgence of the Clippers, and the [...]

After catching a few episodes of Deal or No Deal, I noticed the show added a twist of emotional moments. One show flew in the grandmother of the contestant. I saw a good luck rabbit on another show, and most recently, I saw a clown propose to his girlfriend.
Are these moments supposed to [...]

On further analysis of the NBA playoff kicks, maybe Dwyane Wade faked his leg cramps at the end of the game? I mean, just check out the pics. You see his new kicks prominently displayed as DWade grabs his leg. Good marketing job Converse!
And Ben Gordon’s shoes? Yep, looks like a [...]

Went to the Hawaii Book and Music Festival to support the Hawaii Association of School Librarians (you know the School Librarians are one of the precious resources that America has). A pretty mellow affair with food, plays, readings, and singing. KHON morning anchor Kirk Matthews was reading in the Keiki Reading Room.

Too Good to be True

by Gee Why on April 23, 2006

Ever hear or read about things that are too good to be true? Although there may be truth in the article about sex being good for you, the benefits seem to go a little overboard. According to the article, sex can cure depression, colds, heart disease, cancer, lower blood pressure, make you look [...]

Playoff Kicks

by Gee Why on April 23, 2006

Now that the NBA post-season has started, new kicks variations are coming out. From Saturday’s games, I saw some notable shoes. In his first playoff game, Lebron James wore a gold colorway of his secondary signature shoe, the Zoom 20.5.5, his summer training shoes. I’m sure a new colorway of his LBJ [...]

Now that the NBA 82-game regular season is done, and the playoffs are beginning, let’s take a look at the final attendance stats for Kobe’s Lakers and Shaq’s Heat. In the first third of the season, the Heat posted better attendance figures, but in the second trimester, the Lakers and Kobe lit up, and [...]
