Pulpconnection is 10AM Reading

by Gee Why on January 30, 2008

in Passion

Just got my weekly SiteMeter email with Pulpconnection stats and noticed this site gets the most visits during hour 10. Actually, hours 9-11 typically get the most visits of the day. What does this mean? I don’t know. Just noticing a trend. Comparing with Google Analytics, Analytics says 1PM gets the most visits (6% of [...]

I didn’t know that “mitsuken” translates to “man is woman?” Gotta be since one owner of Mitsuken was arrested for a drunk driving crash… while dressed in drag. The other owner was arrested for luring a male teen into sexual exploits by impersonating a female on MySpace. So the only logical conclusion is that Mitsuken [...]

Thanks to Wayne’s World for being the first contributor of my drive to get a pulpy new iPhone! Wayne’s World is a swell guy. Bigger props go to Kim from Cali and her iPhone-wielding guy donating $40 (cash) to the drive. Thanks guys! The donation amount don’t matter. Even at $1 a day, every bit [...]

At the recommendation of Wayne’s World, I improved my PayPal status and am now verified with this payment system. So if you feel generous and want to donate to a pulpy iPhone then rest assured that you’re transaction is secured.

Wal-Mart Has Gone Local

by Gee Why on January 28, 2008

in Uncategorized

You know the big box retailer Wal-Mart has embraced the local Hawaii culture after seeing Sunday’s weekly ad. Here is the last page of the ad showing all kinds of stuff for Chinese New Year. Uploaded with plasq‘s Skitch! Hey look, Year of the Rat tee shirts are available! From what I understand that’s a [...]

Medical Math Problem

by Gee Why on January 27, 2008

in Life

Do you remember how to solve math word problems. Let’s try… To prevent respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a monthly shot of Synagis, is highly recommended. HMSA covers 80% of the cost of this dose of pure RSV antibodies while the family pays Pharmacare the remaining amount. For an approximately 13-lb infant, the cost to the [...]

NBA Outdoors?

by Gee Why on January 25, 2008

in Uncategorized

Albeit a preseason game, but the NBA is actually considering hosting a game outdoors. The Phoenix Suns are planning to have a preseason game at a modified outdoor tennis court for next year. For everyone growing up playing basketball, outdoor courts were a mainstay with stints in a gym a rare opportunity. I wonder how [...]

Apple Should Design Interfaces

by Gee Why on January 24, 2008

in Life

I don’t know what it’s officially called, but Apple should get into the business of designing interfaces for devices, especially for those in the medical field. Have you ever used a Kangaroo Pet feeding pump? The device seems simple enough but trying to program it is harder than it should be. Check out its buttons [...]

Wow, that was fast. Even before they officially go on sale on January 25, the Niketown in Chicago has sold out of its allotment of the titanium/university blue AJ XX3. The crazies waiting in line during freezing temperatures were given vouchers and told to come back on Friday. The love and passion of shoe heads [...]

Save $100 on Vudu

by Gee Why on January 24, 2008

in Passion

Vudu has just reduced the price of its standard set top box by $100, now going for $295. Recent customers who paid the original $400 Vudu price tag can get $100 worth of movies as compensation. Nice. If you’re considering getting a Vudu box, check out my review and experiences: Review: Vudu Movie Service (Part [...]

Stories from the Cold

by Gee Why on January 24, 2008

While hearing stories about visiting the Maui Space Surveillance Complex and its 38 degree weather is neat, how about hearing stories about living in Antarctica for three years? Recently found out that a high school classmate has been working and living in Antarctica since 2005 and has been blogging about her experiences at penguinsandpinkboots.blogspot.com. Ann [...]

No, we’re not talking blinged out Toyota Camrys… Even though LeBron James is a Cleveland native and plays for the hometown Cavaliers, he, like the Tabasco Man, is a fan of the New York Yankees. So much so that LeBron and Nike worked on this pinstriped colorway of his Air Zoom LeBron V. Cleveland fans [...]

When Starbucks had their gift card promotion that included iTunes songs, I stocked up and have some credit for music singles saved up. But these credits expire at the end of February so I’m looking for some fresh songs to buy. What are your suggestions? Here are my most recent buys: Stay (I Missed You) [...]

Liking Skitch

by Gee Why on January 23, 2008

in Passion

Don’t know if you noticed, but I’ve started to play around with Skitch for some of Pulpconnection’s images. Skitch is a combination application and web service for “fast and fun image sharing.” With the Skitch app, you can easily edit images or take screen shots and mark them up with basic drawing tools. With the [...]

While mowing the lawn this past weekend, the clutch belt broke so me and my dad tried to replace it. The owner’s manual included instructions for this task, but they’re absolutely horrible. Just look at the referenced parts diagram (the clutch belt is part #60). Uploaded with plasq‘s Skitch! Needless to say, the mower is [...]

The limited edition titanium/university blue Air Jordan XX3 drops on Friday, January 23, 2008 at 23 selected retailers, but Jordan lovers in Hawaii will be getting the shaft. Uploaded with plasq‘s Skitch! Supposedly these 23 stores were chosen for being Jordan top sellers. I thought a Hawaii location like its Niketown or Ala Moana Footlocker [...]

Transformers Is Entertaining

by Gee Why on January 21, 2008

in Pulp

Yes, I haven’t seen a movie (at the theaters or on DVD) for some time now, but thanks to my Vudu box, I got to watch the Transformers. Very entertaining, and not quite what I expected from the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. There were some holes in the story line, but I [...]
