Went on a music buying spree the other day and picked up two new releases – Madonna’s Hard Candy and Sarah McLachlan’s Rarities, B-Sides, and Other Stuff, Vol 2. Good stuff from what I’ve listened to so far.
Hard Candy is full of beats and pounding rhythms and is just fun to listen to. [...]
Oh those tricky, competitive stars of Dancing with the Stars. Week 7 of Season 6 kicked off the dual dance performances… and some possibly calculated chicanery. This I deem is the legacy of Marie Osmond.
But first, Shannon Elizabeth and her gangly limbs was eliminated after a solid tango and booty busting mambo. [...]
In my little, little corner of the world, the Starbucks Pick of the Week music promotion is flopping. I’m thinking this is Week 3 of the newly launched promotion, yet I still only find the Counting Crows song from Week 1 available.
Ah yes, here we go, the Starbucks Hear Music site which is focused [...]
For one week, the great musical band Coldplay is giving away their new single Violet Hill before its official release.
To get the free single, you need to sign up here.
Update: I got an email with a link to get the free song. But clicking the link prompts for a username and password. [...]
Over the weekend, my in-laws asked about blogging and the purpose behind it. I recently read this blogging primer that does a good job with a high level explanation of blogging – what is it, who does it, what’s it good for?
And the primer also talks about finding blogs at alltop.com where Pulpconnection is [...]
Coffee-mate is at it again, introducing new flavors. This time, they went international and are featuring flavors from old Italia. Along with the recent additions of Black Cherry Streusel and Cinnamon Bun, Coffee-mates’s World Cafe Collection includes Hazelnut Biscotti, Tiramisu, and Italian Sweet Creme.
Strangely though, Coffee-mate’s web site makes no mention [...]
Thanks to Ryan of the Hawaii Blog, I learned that WordPress creator Matt Mullenweg was going to be speaking at the Mac a’hiki TechFest. I normally don’t attend these tech sessions since free time is scarce, but I was intrigued by this Internet celebrity visiting Hawaii.
Running late, I made it to the conference, but [...]
As a sucker for kicks, I headed to the grand opening of Steve & Barry’s in Hawaii to check out the Starburys. I’ve never been to a Steve & Barry’s and was surprised to see that they carry a full range of clothing items as well.
The store opened its doors at 9am and at [...]
It’s only week 2 of the recent Starbucks Pick of the Week music promotion, and already it’s off to a shaky start in Hawaii. I found the first Pick, the Counting Crows’ Washington Square, but that’s all.
I haven’t been able to find the pick for week 2 at two Starbucks locations. I went [...]
If you missed the retro release of the Nike Air Max 95 Neon, you now have a chance at redemption. These classics are once again available at Niketowns in limited quantities.
Still stunning after all these years.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Dancing with the Stars is a hit due to its hot ladies, both stars and dancing pros. And now, this fact has been certified with three current DWTS members making FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World for 2008 list.
Who made the list? [...]

You might have heard, but Marlee Matlin was the latest star eliminated from Dancing with the Stars. Looking absolutely fantastic next to the Mambo King, Marlee received the least votes after a shaky routine.
Three guys and three gals remain as the show heads toward dual dance routines.

It was only a matter of time, but Kristi Yamaguchi and partner Mark Ballas received the first perfect score of Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars. As Kristi and Mark continue to dominate this season, I can feel the show’s producers making a mental note never to invite a figure skater, especially an [...]
The pride of Los Banos, Ryan Scott, was sent packing from Top Chef, eliminated for bringing California flair to a Chicago Bears tailgate party. His non-traditional tailgate dishes didn’t wow the judges, but he did seem to be a fan favorite after working the crowds with his metrosexual charm.
But in the land of da [...]
I can’t remember how many times I’ve seen Hawaii Department of Transportation spokesman, Scott Ishikawa, on television. Anytime there was something, anything related to travel, Scott was there explaining things.
Because of his wide exposure, I always thought he had plans for running for office. Who in Hawaii doesn’t know his face [...]
After upgrading to the latest Mac Office 2008, I think I’m about to revert back to the older 2004 version. The latest Office suite is sooo slow on my MacBook Pro (2 GHz Core Duo and 2 GB RAM). Word, Excel, and PowerPoint take forever to start up.
And even once started, performance of [...]
Not sure when this happened, but Club 939’s web site got an eye-catching overhaul. Gone is the site with basic info about Hawaii’s finest gentlemen’s club. Now, the site features upcoming events, pictures from previous events, and yes, even an online store for your very own 939 paraphernalia (and some of the stuff [...]
This is a stereotype purely based on circumstantial evidence, but wouldn’t you agree that Pearl City Girls are saucy?
The April 18, 2008 Weekend Edition of MidWeek featured model-turned-drift-racer Verena Mei. The 26-year old Pearl City grad is a top-ranked drifter in the US and is a model. Saucy!
Club 939 continues its advertisements featuring [...]
Tried to get a jump start on the weekend, but instead had a delayed weekend. On Friday, we planned to head to the Iolani Family Fair when they opened. But we had to wait for our water heater installation, so a lunch arrival time turned into a dinner arrival.
On Saturday, we were going [...]
