University of Hawaii basketballer, Rod Flemings, has his unique sense of style with his kicks. In 2010, he’s at it again with a garish display of every color in the rainbow and then some. The kicks are custom made and molded to better fit Rod’s dogs, but my question is how does Rod get to [...]

So you’ve been captured by a blobby, intergalactic crime lord and forced to wear a metal bikini, where would you find matching kicks? Why, from Adidas of course! Adidas has a collaboration line with Star Wars featuring some interesting items like these Princess Leia themed kicks. From the dark side of The Force is this [...]

Just speculating what Roderick Flemings’ “special order” kicks will be. If he wants a doozy, how about these Adidas T-Mac 6 special make up by Undercrown? They’re even in UH colors of white, green, and orange.

What Will Rod be Rockin’?

by Gee Why on November 14, 2009

I thought Roderick Flemings’ gold TS Commander LT Adidas was going to be his kicks of choice for the season. But no, Rod has a surprise in store. Flemings said he is waiting for his own “special order” to come in. “These shoes were just, uh, temporary,” Flemings said. “I got ‘em over the summer [...]

Whoa! Will UH forward, Roderick Flemings, be the golden child of the WAC this season? Just what is he rockin’ in this picture in the Honolulu Advertiser? Last season, the Golden Rod donned rainbow-hued Undercrown special editions. This year he’s got the Adidas Nation TS Commander LT in gold. These are supposedly a limited edition [...]

New UH Team Kicks?

by Gee Why on January 4, 2009

in Addiction,Passion

At the UH Men’s basketball WAC season opener against Boise State (which they loss), the squad displayed new team shoes. These look like the Adidas TS Team Creators in a custom UH colorway that most of the team wore except for Roderick Flemings who’s still rocking his Rainbow Warrior Editions. Hot or not? Personally, I [...]

Even his teammates can’t keep their eyes off of UH forward Roderick Flemings’ dazzling Adidas. Here, new starting center, Paul Campbell, secretly eyes Rod’s Rainbows at the free throw line. This is what Campbell was looking at.

Tapping into the mega kicks consciousness that is KICKS HI, I got a lead identifying Roderick Flemings’ “Rainbow Warriors Edition” kicks. These WAC Player of the Week sneaks is a special collaboration makeup between Adidas and Undercrwn, designed especially for Chauncey Billups. Television commentator, Jim Leahey, says these colorful kicks remind him of old man [...]

Here’s another look at the rainbow-colored Adidas of UH’s Roderick Flemings. After wearing these self-proclaimed Rainbow Warriors Edition kicks, Flemings has been on fire, going for 22 points and 13 rebounds against Prairie View A&M then lighting up Eastern Washington for 37 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists. Chicago State comes to play on Monday [...]

Thanks to the Kansas Jayhawks (or coulda been, free-throw-choking Memphis Tigers), Adidas has broken Nike’s string of seven consecutive NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships. Here’s to the champion Jayhawks decked out with Adidas. The Brotherhood has done it. Here’s one last look at this year’s bracket from a kicks perspective. Like last year, the NCAA Men’s Basketball champion will be an easy kicks pick. The Finals are solely represented by those from the Adidas Brotherhood, the Memphis Tigers and the Kansas Jayhawks. So Adidas finally breaks through Nike’s recent hold of National Champs dating back to 2001 (Duke, Maryland, Syracuse, UConn, NC, Florida twice). Indeed, [...]

As March winds to a close, the Madness continues for the UCLA Bruins, Memphis Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Kansas Jayhawks. All regional #1 seeds made it to the Final Four which means that Adidas commands three spots of the Final Four with Carolina defending the Nike name ala their Team Jordan sneaks. Though [...]

Adidas is promoting their “Basketball is a Brotherhood” advertising campaign during March Madness, and their lineup could feature a possible National Champion. Is there a champion among these? The three stripe clad UCLA, Kansas, Memphis, and Louisville are playing on in the Elite 8. Related: Kicks Analysis #1: Shoe Sponsorship 2006 | 2007 | 2008 [...]

The Elite 8 teams go at it on Saturday and Sunday, and we have an even split. Four Nike teams and four Adidas teams AND each regional finals feature a Nike team going up against an Adidas team. How much better can this be? North Carolina (Nike/Team Jordan) vs Louisville (Adidas) Kansas (Adidas) vs Davidson [...]

I must say Adidas teams are making an impact on this year’s March Madness tournament. In 2007, Nike represented 11 of the Sweet 16 teams, and Adidas had the remaining five teams. There’s more parity in 2008 with nine Nike teams, six Adidas teams, and one non-sponsored team. North Carolina (Nike/Jordan Brand) Washington State (Nike) [...]

After the completion of Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, Nike teams have 28 victories, Adidas 18, and 2 by the independent Western Kentucky. Percentage wise this equates to 58% of the wins going to Nike teams, 38% going to Adidas teams, and 4% of the games won by the non-sponsored Hilltoppers [...]

Here are the conference shoe sponsorships for the 64 teams making the 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. I didn’t realize the Big East led the way with the most teams (8 – 5 Nike, 3 Adidas) making the tournament. The Big 12, PAC-10, and SEC sent 6 teams each to the Tournament while the perennial [...]

Did a little image searching on Getty Pictures to clear up my initial kicks analysis. Here are the new graphs. Percentage of SponsorshipCount of SponsorshipI credited Adidas for Cal St Fullerton, but Mount Saint Mary’s popped up as another independent with Adidas and New Balance on their players. Both Nike and Adidas’ numbers went up [...]

Pssst. Wanna know a secret? If your men’s basketball program is sponsored by Nike and wear Nike shoes during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, you have a good chance of winning a National Championship. Starting this century, go ask Duke (’01), Maryland (’02), Syracuse (’03), Connecticut (’04), North Carolina (’05), and Florida (’06, ’07). That’s [...]

The Gators of Florida repeated as National Champions beating the Ohio State Buckeyes, but in either case, Nike claimed another victory in collegiate men’s basketball and solidified its place as the shoes of champions. With this Gators win, Nike-wearing teams have won 7 of the last 8 championships. In their honor, here are pictures of [...]
