A favorite issue every year! It’s okay to drool. Well, maybe not at Reebok’s offerings…

Just one more dark variation of Civil Beat inspired kicks, and this time testing out NikeID’s embed code. Check out theNike Air Max 95 iD ShoeI designed at NIKEiD.com This is the generated wallpaper version.

Have you seen the redesign of the Civil Beat web site? It’s cleaner and has more visual elements that pop. So how would this new design translate to Nike kicks? Well, it might look like these (iconic) Air Max 95s. The “light” colorway. The “dark” colorway. I’d rock either of these (in a size 10)! [...]

After running with my Nike+ system, I heard a congratulatory message saying I burned a tremendous amount of calories. What I would have preferred is something like this: “Congratulations! You burned a tremendous amount of calories. Now go celebrate with an ice cream cone.” Or maybe from a marketing and partnership standpoint: “Congratulations! You burned [...]

Not sure what to think about the Nike Air Max Modular 95 hybrid. At first glance, it looks plain but then a clean, classic look starts emerging. That back/heel view is killer though, and the colorway is, of course, great.

A Sad Day for Kicks

by Gee Why on July 31, 2010

in Addiction

It’s a sad day when you have to retire your kicks from your wardrobe rotation. Even sadder is the day when you have to get rid of unwearable kicks. Such was earlier this week when I said good bye to some favorites. What do you see? Yes, those are the Air Jordan XIII, And1 Tai [...]

Nike might be set to release kicks inspired by popular Street Fighter characters. First up are sneakers designed after Chun Li and Ryu. Subtle style, but you can definitely see the design elements from the SF warriors. I’m hoping for Nike’s take on a Guile inspired shoe.

So Lebron James wins his second (and back-to-back) NBA MVP award, and Nike commemorates this accomplishment of their marquee star with a special shirt. Much respect. But check out the suggested “You might also like…” section further down the page. Kobe Bryant in the house! How about suggesting some Lebron kicks or clothing Nike? Where’s [...]

What advice did Steve Jobs give to Nike’s president, Mark Parker?  “Get rid of the crappy stuff.” Just do it!

Awesome NBA Twitterness

by Gee Why on April 29, 2010

This is a neat way to represent Twitter conversations for the NBA playoffs.  Nike and Stamen designed this dynamic display that is continually updated based on tweets for these teams.  Clicking on a team shows team-specific tweets along with Nike’s family members and their kicks.  Try it out here.

I have a hard time believing this video is legit, but then again, my Asian kin are known for doing some wacky, way out stuff. I mean, who would think of using Nike Free Run+ shoes to control musical instruments? These DJs are wiggety wack geniuses!

Manny Pacquiao almost had me. After hearing about the boxer’s canceled concert in Hawaii, I felt for the poor guy. The Pac Man must be so busy whooping everyone’s butt, running for office in the Philippines, entertaining fans with his vocals, and inspiring his very own Nike kicks. So there I was, faced with these, [...]

These Nike Air Trainer 1′s are inspired by Brandon Roy and the Portland Trailblazers, but they sure have that No Ka Oi feel. To bad these player exclusives are not for general sale.

If the Grammy Awards recognized the best kicks in a musical performance then the award would have definitely gone to Eminem and Lil Wayne. During their Grammy night performance of Drake’s Forever, Eminem rapped with what looked like Nike Air Max 90s while Lil Wayne rocked the distinctive Air Jordan 11, Space Jam editions. And [...]

I haven’t bought a pair of basketball shoes since I retired from the game, but these Air Max LeBron VII Dunkman Editions might change my mind.

Is that how Perseus felt riding atop the winged Pegasus? I surely doubt it, but for me, I am getting blisters from running in my new Nike Air Pegasus 26+ shoes. I’m hoping this is just part of the break in process. With the 26th model, the Pegasus line has a long history of running, [...]

University of Hawaii basketballer, Rod Flemings, has his unique sense of style with his kicks. In 2010, he’s at it again with a garish display of every color in the rainbow and then some. The kicks are custom made and molded to better fit Rod’s dogs, but my question is how does Rod get to [...]

Look for New Running Shoes

by Gee Why on December 26, 2009

in Addiction,Life

After 72 runs and 209 miles, I think it’s time to replace my Nike Structure Triax+ 12 running shoes.  These shoes were great but have recently started to feel soft and spongy like it’s not providing firm support or adequate cushioning.  Maybe I’ll get another pair. Or maybe I’ll take a look at the Lunarglides [...]

Over on Slam Online, they’re reminiscing the top basketball kicks from the 80′s, 90′s, and now. Without a doubt, the 90′s was my kicks era. Let’s check them off: And1 Tai Chi Nike Air Max Penny Nike Air Flight Huarache Air Jordan XI Nike Zoom Flight (not really, but I had the cheaper versions) Nike [...]

The reborn Nike Trainer 1 has been out for a few months and are now available in various inspired colorways. For you New York Yankee fans, you can get a Yankee-themed Trainer for $90 from the online Nike Store. Nice and clean design, very easy to wear with anything.
