Want to learn about Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and how to separate web style from content? Then CSS Basics.com could be for you. Eighteen chapters introducing you to the goodness of CSS.
Also check out the book Bulletproof Web Design by Dan Cederholm to learn how to take advantage of CSS. Didn’t know the power of CSS until I read this book. As an added bonus, Dan Cederholm designed this Blogger “TicTac” template and explains how it works via CSS.

“You can’t shine a turd,” an old salty dog tried to explain to me, then a young, naive whippersnapper. I didn’t understand what he meant, but as the years went by two plus two started to equal four. As an older, not-so-naive whippersnapper, I have sadly come across several individuals who fit the bill, and today I add another to the list.
So for all you young whippersnappers out there, just remember, “you can’t shine a turd.” And don’t fall N Luv (wit a Stripper) either.

This real estate site, Zillow.com, is causing a stir on the Net. It’s pretty cool. You can see the value of your home and the homes in your area. Be amazed that you live next to a million dollar house.
The site is getting “zillions” of visitors so it may be slow or inaccessible. Mac users use Firefox instead of Safari.

If this ain’t the anthem for Club 939, then I don’t know what is. Just ask the VIPs.

Bad turn of events at work today. Very well could signal the loss of talented people. We got money. We don’t got money. Which is it?
Not entirely convinced the fat lady is singing quite yet. Let’s see what teamwork can do…

Wayne’s World, CCTWT, Fireswamp, slashdot, Hypebeast, Yahoo, MacNN, Engadget, and now Baby Dog Days… so many web sites to check for the latest. How do you keep up? Use RSS of course.
With an RSS aggregator/reader like NetNewsWire or the web-based Bloglines, you can subscribe to RSS feeds of your favorite sites. Instead of visiting these sites one-by-one, your RSS reader will pull down all the latest headlines and summaries for you. Then you can quickly scan for the gems and be done with it.
Another blogger is born with the Angry Asian Girl writing about baby dog days. I’m guessing topics will be about days with dogs and babies and oh yeah, complaints commentary about her/my significant other (MSO). You know what I mean. Anyways, check it out.
And don’t forget – for sports and science and technology, but not necessarily sports technology, visit CCTWT. What is your dispersion relation? For deals and the haps, Wayne’s World is there for you. Lastly, Pulpconnection is all over the place with tidbits about Apple, Steve Jobs, Google, kicks, Club 939, Elements Hawaii, Starbucks, and work stuff.
Need some extra mojo this coming Valentines? Try the new Turn On soda, the beverage that’s supposed to arouse you. Made with guarana, ginseng, and caffeine, the drink is marketed as an aphrodisiac.
So forget that Spanish fly, get the Turn On! And here I thought Nelly had the market nailed with his Pimp Juice.
Might as well add the Turn On to the chest of fertility enhancers.
Wired has an article describing the basic steps needed to make your own ring tones for your cell phone. Your phone needs to support MP3 playback for this to work. Using the open source Audacity software with LAME MP3 encoder, you take a chunk of your favorite song and save it as a separate file. Transfer that MP3 file to your phone and select it as your ring tone. Pretty darn easy.
As a quick and dirty test, I tried out the steps with my Motorola V540. Oh da easy! I transfered the file using Bluetooth, and the V540 then played back the sound file and asked if I wanted to save it as my default ring tone. Now I got Police’s Message in a Bottle (the “Sending out an SOS” part) as my ring tone. Later on, I’ll add Kanye West’s Diamonds from Sierra Leone as a ring tone.
