and it feels so good! With the return of KreyZ Oshiro to the 98.5 morning crew of Rory Wild and Gregg Hammer, the former 93.9 Wake Up Crew is together once again, and the laughs are back!
Island 98.5 is now programmed on my car radio with the energized group dynamic and its fun and its flair. Have you listened recently?
Yes, the music format is still Hawaiian and Reggae, and it still isn’t my acoustic taste, but that’s where Island’s rival sister station 93.9 Jamz comes in. Exclusively playing “ol’ skool” jams, familiar tunes are a button push away once the Wake Up Crew has spoken.
So Katy Perry’s duet with Elmo was stricken from television for exposing too much of Katy’s skin (not the naked Elmo). So as musical guest for the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, the SNL crew had to have some fun with this.
Here’s the skit with Katy in an Elmo tee shirt.
Available on Hulu.com for a limited time.
For you canine fans, check out this video by OK Go.
Yeah, these are the same guys that did that treadmill video.
Here’s what you can expect from the Kaneohe Bay Air Show 2010… in pictures.
Lots and lots of seating but expected to be filled.

Emergency services and plentiful police (watching Fat Albert).

Aircraft, lots and lots of aircraft, both civilian and military.

Music from the Pacific Fleet Band.

It’ll be hot so visit the Farmers Hawaii booth for some breezy relief.
Of course, the high flying (and sometimes, very low flying) Blue Angels.
And there’s much, much more! Thanks to Pacific Command, Pacific Fleet, and the KBay Air Show!

The Oatmeal has great stuff like this poster clearing up how to use an apostrophe.

Amongst all the shows that started this week, twelve new stars took to the ballroom floor in Season 11 of Dancing with the Stars. Wait… no Edyta?! Why bother watching? 😉
But really, the Season 11 stars surprised me. I thought Season 10 was good, but there’s a bunch of potential with this group. Even the DWTS elder, Mrs. Brady, moved better than I’d given her credit for. Sometimes she even moved better than the Hoff. I guess all that crime fighting as Michael Knight and life guarding as Mitch Buchannon took a toll on David Hasselhoff’s bod.
Here’s a quick synopsis of Week 1.
Jennifer Grey – didn’t recognize her as Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing. Could go very far with the Patrick Swayze sentiment. Here’s Kyle Massey rocking the cha cha cha.
And surprisingly, the Hoff was eliminated in Week 1. Yes, his dancing was bad, but I thought his fame would carry him for a bit.
If kids (and adults) spontaneously start squealing and acting all giddy, this could be why.
next show is Hawaii!!! But until then it is time to take some time off and relax. VACATION!!!!!!
Katy Perry makes an appearance on Sesame Street and sings a Hot and Cold duet with Elmo.
Update: Well, well, well, I guess Katy’s clothes was a little too hot for Sesame Street since they’ve officially pulled the video.
So what’d you think of the remade, rebooted, remixed Hawaii Five-O? Is it still a classic? Only time will tell, but the premiere episode definitely was fun!
Some thoughts and wonderings.
Hawaii is well armed and seedyI never knew how serious and epidemic the criminal element was in Hawaii. Even Governor Lingle stand-in was fed up and wanted the criminal SOBs off her island. I mean where ever you went the public was armed and ready for a shootout. And what timing for Aloun farms and the forced labor workforce to coincide with the H5O subplot of human exporting. Who watching thought about the pumpkin patch when the cargo load of imported Asians was discovered?
I thought Five-O did an excellent job portraying the visual beauty of the islands. Every lead-in was a scenic sight to see. Even tents on beach got airtime. But I wonder why locations like Kukui High School had to be made up? Why not use real location names?
Say what? Okay, so I’m a fake Hawaiian akin to imitation crab, but I’ve never heard “bird” in pidgin. I need to update my Hawaiian slang list with all the gems spoken by the Five-O cast.
So yeah, even with its imperfections, Hawaii Five-O is still fun, and I’ll be sticking around for more episodes.
If you missed the premiere episode, you can now view it online at CBS, and here’s the trailer along with the iconic theme song.

Ooops, sorry about that. Pulpconnection was beaten civilly (I think) by a Civil Beat tweet. There was a big spike in server resources (see that blue and red lines climb?) that made this site unresponsive.
Rebooted and now back online (kinda sorta). #becivil!
