Best Buy Price Matches Their Own Prices?

This may already be well known, but I’ll repeat since it’s worth it. Best Buy locations in Hawaii may have different prices from their online web site. But, you can receive the (lower) online price just by showing them the price on the Best Buy web page . They’ll in turn price match with their own web site cost.

Here’s an example. This internal Western Digital hard drive (WD10000CSRTL, SKU: 8492026) is listed for $79.99 online with a Hawaii zip code provided. But when you go to the actual store, the shelf price lists $99.99! Take a print out of the web page or even better, a real-time view on a mobile device. The clerk will then override and modify the price.

Weird.

A favorite Friday takeout meal comes from Food Company. Their menu is extensive, but the specials (surf)board is where it’s at!

At the very top of the specials board is a new favorite, the seared ahi with jalapeno ponzu sauce (I call that “jalaponzu”). 🙂

From Intense Debate to Disqus

I’ve used the Intense Debate commenting system since November 2009, and it’s worked well enough. But… it wasn’t what I exactly wanted. Sure, functionally, it performed as advertised, but small things added up. The full featured comment interface looked cluttered and only recently, registered comments and trackbacks were not showing up completely. You would see them in the Recent Comments sidebar widget, but the post itself wouldn’t display the comment.

Enter Disqus. This is another popular commenting system that has similar features as Intense Debate. I’ve always envied the look of Disqus’ commenting section, and with some compunction, I made the switch. Don’t get me wrong. I’m still a fan of Automattic products like WordPress, VaultPress, Gravatar, PollDaddy, and more, but it’s time to disqus.

The Confusing Steps of Hale Koa

The main stairway leading to the Hale Koa hotel in Waikiki has got to be one of the most confusing ever. If you ever walked up these steps, you know what I mean.

Each step is so long, you need to take an intermediary step just to reach the next step level. So instead of taking one step per leg stride, you have to step, walk on that step, then step up one. It reminds me of entering and exiting a stopped escalator. Your natural body motion gets confused.
