I Braved the Arashi Blast

No, I didn’t go to the Arashi Blast in Hawaii concerts this past weekend, but I did brave the second best place, Ala Moana Center. You couldn’t escape Arashi while walking the mall, especially the Shirokiya end. Here’s front and center of Shirokiya.

Wait, another Arashi banner?!? Excuse me as I now had to take a selfie.

Even those kiosks selling magic skirts wanted to capitalize on the Arashi spending, welcoming guests.

I am a little bummed I couldn’t find the glorious Arashi hooded towels at a discounted price. It was so hot at Ala Moana, the protection from the hooded towel would have been welcomed.

While cruising the Kailua community on this hot and humid Saturday, I saw it and instantly understood the gloriousness of the Arashi Blast in Hawaii hooded towel. Japanese tourists were walking around Kailua town with the sun blazing and sweat glistening. But a few of them were wearing their Arashi hooded towels. Genius!

The hoods provided protection from the directly overhead sun, and the wearers used the towel portion to wick away that humidity-induced sweat. That right there is the beauty of the Arashi hooded towels, and you too can own this marvel for only $95 on eBay.

Arashi Blast: iPhone 6 Buyers

Of the 15,000 tourists coming to see the Arashi Blast in Hawaii concerts, majority are from Japan, but there are fans from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea. Interestingly enough, the iPhone 6 has yet to release in China. You think you might see a visitor or two from China waiting in line at an Apple Store before heading out to see Arashi?

Hopefully you don’t see Arashi-like lines at the Apple Store on Friday.

Arashi Blast: Lines, Lines, Lines!

No, that’s not the line for the Apple Store at Ala Moana awaiting the iPhone 6. The lines of (female) fans outside of Shirokiya is Arashi related. I think the Arashi Blast ticket sales is over so I’m guessing the lines are for the pop-up store inside?? $100,000 in sales on the first day!?!

Before the big day meaning the Arashi Blast concert, not the iPhone 6 release, there are dedicated fans blasting pics of Arashi at Ala Moana.

But you know the pics would be better with an iPhone 6 or the optically image stabilized iPhone 6 Plus. Thanks to closet Arashi fan @yoda808 for the pic.

Arashi Blast: No Power

If your electricity goes out on Friday or Saturday, you gotta blame the Arashi Blast concerts. With HECO already urging customers to cut back on consumption with the Kalaeloa plant out of commission awaiting parts and temperatures soaring above 90 degrees almost daily, you know the Arashi concert is going to push electrical demand near the red line when their gigantic stage goes live.

Over sixty feet tall, 280 feet wide, 13 HD screens, costing over $8 million to construct – you know this baby will suck up the juice. Not only that, but after the concert, overheated fans are going back to their hotel rooms and are most likely gonna crank up the AC to cool off from Arashi Blast.

Too bad sonic waves can’t be harnessed for power. All those screams and squeals from the fans would compensate.

Arashi Blast: American Convertibles

While you’re stuck in traffic, take a look around at the surrounding cars. See more than your normal share of American muscle car convertibles? Seemingly the vehicle of choice for Hawaii tourists, I’m guessing the influx of visiting fans for the upcoming Arashi Blast in Hawaii concerts has snapped up all convertible rentals.

So take a look around and spot those cars with the top down, GPS on the dash, pale skin passengers taking all kinds of pictures, and possibly blaring Arashi tunes!

Arashi Blast: Westbound Traffic

When I saw the horrid westbound traffic this afternoon, I wondered if another Exercise Urban Unrest was underway. The rationale being to observe the traffic crush to Ko’olina this weekend as Arashi takes the stage in their Blast in Hawaii concerts. That’s 15,000 fans headed to the west side for 5:30 concerts on Friday and Saturday.

But this was no drill with two separate auto fires reported, one coincidentally right by the Ko’olina area. Though the fire was serious, hopefully no major injuries afflicts the wounded driver.

Are You Ready for Arashi?

I am now that I know what or actually who Arashi is and what impact this boy band from Japan will have on Hawaii this upcoming weekend. 15,000 visitors are headed to the Arashi “Blast in Hawaii” concerts in Ko’olina on Friday and Saturday. Supposedly the Ihilani and Aulani are both completely booked so don’t even try.

And while many fans are coming from the continental US, many from Asia are also flying in. You think this might have an impact on local iPhone 6 availability in Hawaii? I don’t believe the iPhone 6 released in all countries so if these fans happen to be here for a concert AND the iPhone 6 is released, you think they might indulge? I think so, so don’t be surprised if you see several tourists waiting in line at the various Apple Stores, especially the Waikiki location where Arashi concert goers will be bussed to the west side.

Your iPhone 6 claimed by tourists coming to watch Arashi? Now that would be bittersweet.
