I had ordered the Coke Oreo cookies from Walmart during their early release time period but had missed out on the Coke drink. Actually, I think the drink was regionally available, seeing availability in mainland zip codes.

Now the Coke Oreo/Oreo Coke collab is publicly available if you can find them. Luckily, they are both available at Target.

Walmart released the Oreo Coke and Coke Oreos, but the Coke drink is already sold out.

Okay, I was anticipating this early release because just who knows when these Coke Oreos would be available in Hawaii. To my disappointment, Oreo seemingly has no love of Hawaii, getting this error upon checkout.

Now, I have to watch Target and Walmart in-store and online to get the Oreos and the Coke drinks.

When this foodie collab launches in early September, I’m going to have to load up on both the Coke-flavored Oreos and the Oreo-flavored Coke. Okay, okay, the colors are a little scary, but you have to admit that combining the flavor profiles of both are intriguing.

Kith Coming to Hawaii Momentarily

Yes, hypewear purveyor Kith is coming to Hawaii but only for a moment. On Friday, August 2, 2019, Kith is opening a pop-up store in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki but how long this pop-up will stay in Hawaii is not known.

The marquee of this pop-up is Kith’s collaboration with Coca-Cola. Yes, that Coke. This collaboration includes a hoodie, a polo, a sweatshirt, and a rugby.

Clothing isn’t the only merch available. There’ll be a Converse Chuck Taylor All Star featuring the Coca-Cola and Kith branding.

So what gives this Kith x Coke collection a Hawaiian connection? It’s the color of the clothing. The colors of the patchwork correspond to the official colors of the Hawaiian Islands. Now a quick aside, but supposedly the island colors were officially designated in 2000. 2000? That wasn’t very long ago. For those of us born and raised in the aina, weren’t these the colors used during May Day elementary school performances from decades ago?

As a refresher, here are the colors of the islands:

Hawaii – red
Maui – pink
Molokai – green
Kahoolawe – grey
Lanai – orange
Oahu – yellow
Kauai – purple
Niihau – white

Ahh, okay… not sure if the actual clothing pieces are matched to the Hawaiian clime (I mean three of the four are long sleeved for our humid weather). But you have to appreciate the collaboration that’s coming to the islands for its launch. And Ronnie and his kith and kin will be present.

Although I have conflicting plans for that day, I’ll try to make the opening at some point since I’m eyeing that short-sleeved polo (because really, I’d die of overheating in the others).

I Have No Fear of God

Literally, I have no Fear of God (FOG). Nike and designer Jerry Lorenzo are at it again partnering the swoosh with FOG and releasing two original silhouettes, the odd Moc and the old school Raid. Yes, that Air Raid with the signature criss-crossed double straps and made for the outdoor court. But the FOG Raid has been refined and retooled in the FOG style. But from the recent drop, I have neither.

Okay, so I discounted the Moc at the outset focusing only on the Raid. I struck out on Nike SNKRS which was a bad sign. A common size selling out that fast was surely an indicator. Then every drop after that was miss after miss. Even overseas shoe sellers didn’t help me. Restocks were missed along with later drops by Undefeated and xhibition. It was ugly (and sad).

It was so sad that I needed consolation in the form of a Coke Zero Orange Vanilla.

And I gotta say that this new drink is very good. Wouldn’t think so, but this combination is a winner. Would have been better along with a FOG Raid though.

And if you’re keeping score, I have no Frogs and no FOGs.

The only way to recover from repeatedly striking out at Bonkers (on Saturday) is to drink the new Orange Vanilla Coke.

Getting that Nike SB Dunk Walk the Dog shoe was harder than I would have thought, and no, I could not get them.

A reason why Coke Blak is doomed is because Coca-Cola Co. has plans to introduce a new iced drink in partnership with Caribou Coffee Co. as well as a “coffee-and-chocolate flavored Godiva Belgian Blends” drink.

In line from Starbucks are hot vending machines which will dispense Starbucks coffee cans!

Coke Blak is Doomed

Sorry to say, but Coke Blak must be on its way out. Introduced around April 2006, the root beer-tasting, coffee/soda carbonated fusion beverage sounded interesting but had a steep price of about $10 for a four pack of Blak.

Why doomed? While shopping at Foodland the other day, I saw this.

Foodland Maika’i Card members can get a $9 discount on Coke Blak. $9!! If that’s not a clearance sale, I don’t know what is.

Coke Blak Tastes Like…

Had an informal tasting session of the new Coke Blak coffee/soda, and the general consensus is that it tastes somewhat like Root Beer. Kinda like Root Beer Barrel candy actually. The coffee taste is very mild and the carbonation is tame as well. Overall, it’s a smooth blend of coffee and Coke – nothing too strong or overpowering.

Coke Blak does contain the artificial sweetener aspartame so it’s low on calories, 45 Calories for the entire 8-oz bottle.

I don’t know if I’ll continue to buy Coke Blak. Right now, the introductory cost is good ($2 for a four pack), but when it goes to regular price (over $6 for a four pack), I’m not sure.
