I didn’t know I needed this. While this combination of bagel and cream cheese with your coffee sounds odd, I know I’ve had a breakfast of a bagel and cream cheese with my morning coffee. So yeah, not so odd after all.

Unfortunately, this coffee creamer isn’t (and won’t be) widely available and is only available via limited, timed releases.

Can you picture it, or is this awesomeness just too huge to comprehend? Or does Vanilla Heat sound like a bad porno starring Robert Van Winkle? Either way, blame The Impulsive Buy for this tangent.

Back to the point of reviewing International Delight’s new Vanilla Heat coffee creamer. It lives up to its name, giving your java a jolt of sweet and spicy simultaneously. It’s an odd but proven combination.

Here’s an oddity though. I first tried Vanilla Heat in a Starbucks iced coffee I happened to have. The cold drink laced with Vanilla Heat scorched my throat. I don’t think I overadded the creamer, but it definitely was hot. So much so I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish this creamer. But then I tested it in hot coffee and surprisingly, the heat wasn’t so bad. It’s subtlety nice – the way it should be. I’m guessing that the heat from hot coffee kills the heat of the Vanilla Heat, but I haven’t yet had a chance to test this hypothesis.

Check out Target for this seasonal creamer. Who knows how long it’ll be available.

Historically, I’ve been disappointed with the variety of great sounding creamer flavors from International Delight. The bottle designs and images look great, the flavors sound tasty, but the actual flavors aren’t actually there.  Never learning and doomed to repeat my mistakes, I tried another new flavor, the York Peppermint Pattie. Yes, this is based off of that round disc of a chocolate-covered mint.

International Delight got it right with this one. My perceptions and expectations matched the flavored outcome. Imagine if you melted a York pattie or two into your cup of coffee. Can you taste the subtle mint with that chocolatey tones? Yes, that’s what this creamer tastes like. Usually, I like my coffee on the sweeter side, but with the York Peppermint Pattie creamer, International Delight kept the sweetness appropriately muted.

Beyond its recent Cafe Collection line, Coffee-mate also has it all-natural creamer, Natural Bliss, featuring real milk and cream. Three flavors are available – vanilla, caramel, and sorry, forgot the third.

With all its naturalness, I hope Natural Bliss isn’t like the off-tasting La Creme.  Found Natural Bliss at Safeway in Hawaii.

There’s a new coffee creamer trying to break into the crowded market dominated by Coffee-mate and International Delight. Look for Baileys Coffee Creamers (yes, that Baileys) and see if this new creamer can make it.

I tried the Original Irish Cream and thought it was okay. Baileys has a creamier consistency compared to Coffee-mate and International Delight, but nothing really set it apart.

Interestingly, the Baileys Creamers web site features an iPhone app called Coffee! The app costs $2.99 and displays various pictures of coffee (not associated with Baileys). Hmmm, I’ll pass on the app and will pass on any more Baileys creamer.
