Honoring the End of A Song of Ice and Fire

Gee Why — Sat, 13 Apr 2019 03:28:14 +0000

So my household is paying tribute to the end of The Game of Thrones, a Song of Ice and Fire, and I mean that literally. Before the last season of GoT airs, my home has no ice or fire. My ice maker isn’t working and now the pilot light in my water heater is out.

I have no ice and fire, and soon enough, I will not have A Song of Ice and Fire.

Light of the Seven – So Good

Gee Why — Wed, 29 Jun 2016 19:33:01 +0000

Gotta love the last episode of Season 6 of the Game of Thrones. The music truly set this episode apart, especially the opening sequence featuring the Light of the Seven. It’s so good, so full of impact. Listen on repeat, just don’t follow Tommen.

Yup, that is a piano playing in this opening score.

Game of Thrones Thought: Dragonglass

Gee Why — Wed, 18 May 2016 20:19:00 +0000

Just more random thoughts about the Game of Thrones. Now-Maester Samwell Tarly figures out how to produce Dragonglass in quantities. Heck, maybe Sam’s hometown has Obsidian deposits from which weapons can be forged.

And guess who comes to the rescue when Jon Show and company are cornered by the White Walkers? Yup, Sam the Slayer. Well, he just provides Dragonglass tipped arrows to archers who lay down an escape route for Jon.

Game of Thrones Thought

Gee Why — Mon, 16 May 2016 22:12:38 +0000

Just a random thought about Game of Thrones. Ramsay Bolton (eventually) gets taken out by the remaining direwolves. Seems like Ramsay uses his dogs and hounds to do some of his dirty work. So why not turn the tides and show the real alpha dogs, the direwolves? That would be an appropriate reunion of Ghost (Jon Snow), Summer (Bran), Nymeria (Arya), and hopefully Shaggydog (Rickon).

Getting Ready for A Feast of Crows

Gee Why — Tue, 11 Mar 2014 18:15:37 +0000

Game of Thrones Season 4 is coming up in April. Although it’s technically the fourth season of the series, the storyline continues from the latter half of Book 3, A Storm of Swords. If you want to jump forward and see what lies ahead in Westeros, there’s Book 4, A Feast for Crows

Khal Drogo Does the Shaka

Gee Why — Tue, 09 Apr 2013 00:33:50 +0000

Gotta love Jason Momoa aka Khal Drogo on The Games of Thrones flashing the shaka alongside the Kingslayer and Khaleesi.

Too bad the Dothraki didn’t adopt the shaka as a hand gesture for their tribes.

You Had to Have Seen This Already

Gee Why — Wed, 27 Feb 2013 07:58:46 +0000

I know it’s old news but the Game of Thrones Season 3 trailer was released a few days ago. If you haven’t yet watched, here it is.

Go ahead HBO, take my money!

Nike Game of Thrones Kicks?

Gee Why — Thu, 06 Sep 2012 23:00:34 +0000

It’s highly unlikely, but I wonder if Nike would consider designing shoes inspired by HBO’s Game of Thrones. There could be some interesting colorways tied to the regions and peoples of Westeros.

The family sigils have already been redesigned by Nike’s Darrin Crescenzi, and I could easily see these translated to Nike’s kicks. Hmm, a shaggy, equine Dothraki Dunk or a dragon-scaled Targaryen Air Force One…

The BMW X1 Is Coming…

Forget winter, forget war. The BMW X1 is coming…

Here’s an interesting article about BMW using social media to promote the new X1.

Tyrion Lannister=GOAT Hand of the King

Gee Why — Mon, 04 Jun 2012 18:43:52 +0000

Season 2 of the Game of Thrones just proves how Tyrion Lannister as the Hand of the King is GOAT. Here are some of his most memorable lines from this season. Be forewarned (though as a Game of Thrones fan you already know) that there’s some profanity to be heard.

Game of Thrones, Episode 17 Recap

Gee Why — Mon, 14 May 2012 19:00:32 +0000

Thanks to HBO, you can catch up with episode 17 of the Game of Thrones in less than 2 minutes. Watch the recap video.

If you’d rather read than watch, Entertainment Weekly has a great episode recap as well.

Sing Along with the Game of Thrones

Gee Why — Sat, 14 Apr 2012 18:00:11 +0000

On Sunday nights, I know you do it. Don’t deny it. Yes, I do it too on Sunday nights, any Game of Thrones fan does. As soon as you see the opening to the show, you sing along right? Even the Stark kids sing along as witnessed.

It’s Winter Online!

Gee Why — Mon, 02 Apr 2012 03:51:27 +0000

In the realm of the Internet, it’s already winter.

Season 2 of the Game of Thrones is already available on HBO Go! The North Remembers…

Winter Is at Costco

Gee Why — Sun, 01 Apr 2012 18:00:11 +0000

Winter is coming to Westeros, but it’s already at Costco if you’re looking for the Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R.R. Martin.

Game of Thrones Is THAT Good!

Gee Why — Sun, 01 Apr 2012 08:09:30 +0000

After catching up with Season 1 on DVD and with Season 2 about to begin on April 1, we have subscribed to HBO. Yes, the Game of Thrones is that good. Damn you the Starks of Winterfell, the Dragon family of the Targaryens, and especially Tyrion Lannister for making me dish out for premium cable channels!

On hold goes Netflix for the opportunity to watch the coming wars of Season 2.

Hunting the Game of Thrones

Gee Why — Wed, 14 Mar 2012 02:00:30 +0000

It all started with this Oatmeal comic about the availability of HBO’s Game of Thrones. So I started hunting for this acclaimed series, and luckily, Season 1 released on March 6, 2012. But which format to get? There’s the physical media (DVD or Blu-ray) then there’s streaming (HD or SD), and relatedly, renting versus owning. I checked around, and here are the prices I found online and at stores.

While I’d love the quality of High Def, I don’t own a Blu-ray player (Steve Jobs told me I don’t need one since my Mac doesn’t have Blu-ray). I’m not a fan of paying to rent individuals shows. I am a Netflix subscriber but don’t want the hassles of waiting for the series of discs to cycle through the mail. And subtitles. I need me some subtitles to read the lingo from the Game of Thrones time frame. So… the best bet looks like getting the physical DVDs from Costco with their $5 instant rebate.
