LeBron 11 Low

I’ve been looking for shoes featuring the full length Air Max 360 for a long time. Finally, I came across these LeBron 11 Lows in the lava colorway in my size. While I could have definitely rocked the lava colors, King James and me don’t share the same foot shape. Even with the solid Air Max foundation underfoot, the arch support wasn’t enough. I could feel the inner, medial sides of the shoe flexing with the smallest of steps. I was targeting the 11 Lows as a lifestyle shoe, but if they can’t provide the support while walking around, what’s the point? Sadly, I put these and their paint-speckled Air Max bubble back on the shelf.

Jordan Flight Time 14.5

For the longest time, I never knew what these Jordan-branded kicks were. For the record, they are the Jordan Flight Time 14.5.  I always thought the 14.5 looked distinctive for a Team Jordan shoe. Each colorway works, especially these Chicago Bulls-inspired red, black, and white version.

The look is clean. The padded collar is a nice touch, and the fit was great for my feet. Although narrow mid-foot, these provided better arch support than the LeBron 11 Low. There’s decent tech in the shoe and best of all, they’re only $40. But look at them. They’re made to see court action, and that’s no longer me. I held on to these for some time before also putting them back on the shelf.

Instead, I’m actually looking forward to the upcoming Adidas Crazylight Boost 2016. Even at full price, this shoe looks uniquely different from other shoes on the market and features full length Boost. But I won’t find these at Ross for some time if ever.

Some dude tried to steal $1 million worth of LeBron 12s from the Nike distribution center. That’s about 7500 pairs of kicks. Just where do you hide 7500 boxes?? So while the culprit was caught, not all of the LeBrons were recovered. If you’re rocking a colorway that hasn’t been publicly released, odds are your LeBron 12s are hot.

Or maybe the dude wanted to be his own trillion dollar man?

Now, with this in mind, take a look at Starbucks recent Frappuccino marketing material and new line of gear. Here are some samples.

Notice any thematic similarities? Triangles and geometric shapes anyone? So which one came first, LeBron’s design for the X or Starbucks’ Frappuccino marketing? Corporate design espionage perhaps or pure coincidence? I know not, but if I do spot you wearing the LeBron X MVPs while brainfreezing on a Frappuccino, I will stare at you (and your kicks).

I’ll take the “H” in H-O-R-S-E.

LeBron James is making a fictitious crossover to the comic book world with this special edition LeBron King of the Rings. Available in the October 19 edition of ESPN the Magazine, LeBron has won multiple NBA championships thanks to continued improvements and training. He works on his free throws, picks up zen pick-and-roll tactics from monks, teams with an undead Shane Battier, learns levitation, and even gets his injury-prone legs bionified with adamantium bought off of eBay! Now that’s a comic book storyline for you!

Back in May of 2005, when Nike joined forces with Apple, could you have imagined this?

In 2005, the Nike+ system debuted strictly to track running. Back then you had to use the Sports Kit with a shoe sensor and a receiver for your iPod Nano. The iPhone did not exist in 2005. In his third year in the NBA, a 21-year old LeBron James averaged a personal best 31.4 ppg with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Forward to 2012 and look at this. Nike+ continued its evolution with more Nike+ products, the FuelBand, and the ability to track workouts and basketball activities. A key component continues to be Apple products such as the iPhone and iPods. Now 27-years old, LeBron James is a NBA champion and Finals MVP for the Miami Heat. Could you have imagined this trio of champions?

TJ Maxx is known for carrying designer and name brand clothing, so I wasn’t too surprised when I found Nike LeBron James active wear in store. Along with lots of thongs, the new Pearl City TJ Maxx sells Nike and Adidas active wear, and not just the basic designs, but the more premium variety.

Normally $40, I got these LeBron pants for $17!  Nothing like kicking it at home in LeBron capri pants. They are capris, right?

See the spaces between the @ symbol and Twitter names? But in the NBA you learn and adjust quickly, and LeBron did so in his next tweet fixing his @ fails. Go Heat!

The Lakers also rank #1 overall for team merchandise sold, and I witnessed this frenzy when styling at a game against Golden State. The fan store at the Staples Center was packed, and of course, I had to pick up souvenirs. Though I passed on posing as #24.

On a related note, I’d rather get Lebron basketball shoes over Kobe’s signature line.
