The cost of storage is astronomical right now! I wasn’t really paying attention to the demands of AI on memory and storage, but I am now since hard disks are now cost prohibitive.

I was surprised that 4-bay NAS devices are somewhat affordable (and full featured). So I was looking at Synology or Ugreen with a slight nod to the more mature Synology. But… then I looked up 12-TB drives and stopped.

At Best Buy, one 12-TB WD – Red Plus internal drive costs about $475, and I would need 2-3 of them to even begin with. That $600 NAS device would now be $3000 equipped with three RAID drives.

Not sure if waiting will help with prices either.
