        <p>The cost of storage is astronomical right now! I wasn&#8217;t really paying attention to the demands of AI on memory and storage, but I am now since hard disks are now cost prohibitive.</p>
<p>I was surprised that 4-bay NAS devices are somewhat affordable (and full featured). So I was looking at Synology or Ugreen with a slight nod to the more mature Synology. But&#8230; then I looked up 12-TB drives and stopped.</p>
<p>At Best Buy, one 12-TB WD &#8211; Red Plus internal drive costs about $475, and I would need 2-3 of them to even begin with. That $600 NAS device would now be $3000 equipped with three RAID drives.</p>
<p>Not sure if waiting will help with prices either.</p>    </div>
