Learning the Widebody

After primarily using elongated paddles (and one hybrid), I bought two widebody paddles to gauge the differences in shapes. Both from Enhance, I purchased the Turbo MPP and Duo. Overall, I’m liking the maneuverability of the widebodies. Movement doesn’t feel hinged or staccato – just continuous, harmonious motion.

While the length difference between an elongated and widebody doesn’t seem significant, I have missed a few shots while reaching out with a widebody, so I guess the difference is real.

In my opinion, the Duo feels more grabby and gritty than the Turbo, but the Turbo glides more easily for me. The static weight of the Turbo is slightly higher than the Duo, but I’m guessing the swing weight of the Turbo is less since in hand, the Turbo is easier to move.

All in all, both are solid paddles, but for the price and feel, I prefer the Turbo MPP widebody over the Duo widebody. But, I’m not yet ready to use wide bodies over elongated shapes.

I currently main the elongated and recently picked up a widebody. I may have to switch. The balance and maneuverability of the widebody is way better than the elongated. Sure, the reach is shorter but flicking with the widebody feels way more natural.

I think I need to compare both to a hybrid shape… all blacked out of course!

Yes, paddle lust is real, and no, I don’t need another pickleball paddle… but both you and I know that another paddle (or two) is in sight.

While I wouldn’t mind trying out Friday’s well received Aura and Aura Pro line, there are some interesting developments coming shortly from Enhance Pickleball. Yes, the same Enhance that makes the Turbo lineup that’s been growing in my play group. Enhance Turbo MPP Widebody Is Here!

I’m not a paddle reviewer, but yet here I am… again. This time with the Enhance Turbo MPP in the widebody shape. I’ve been main-ing the elongated version for some time, liking its pop, power, and overall easy performance. Majority of my paddles have been elongated, so I wanted to try something different.

Although both from Enhance and both MPP foam, the elongated and widebody sound completely different. The widebody hits with a lower bassy tone compared to the higher pitch of the elongated. The overall feel of the hits are similar, but the widebody doesn’t pack as much of a punch. The ball doesn’t seem to launch off the face like the elongated.

What I do like about the widebody is the weight distribution of this shape. While I’m still learning how to flick, the motion had always felt choppy when moving the paddle head from down to the finished flick position. But with the widebody, the motion feels more natural and smooth. I think practicing flicks with the widebody will develop that shot’s muscle memory faster. Then I can graduate that flick motion to an elongated paddle.

As a widebody, the paddle is shorter, and I mis-hit or even totally missed shots off to the side, so I have to get used to that shorter reach. But overall, I enjoyed the first play impression. It’s a Turbo MPP but also a different Turbo MPP.

These Paddles Are the Same Shape?!?

I guess it never dawned upon me that there are only so many pickleball paddle shapes out there. So I was surprised when I compared my Enhanced Turbo MPP with my new Luzz (Lab) Tornado 2. These elongated paddles play very differently even though are the same exact shape! Yes, the same shape.

Here are pictures for comparison purposes. When side-by-side, you can’t even see the silhouette of the underside paddle. Maybe the curvature of the neck area is a tiny bit different? But otherwise, these paddle shapes are identical.

My First Luzz Lab Paddle

I mentioned the new Luzz Lab experimental concept previously but missed out on the big saving, crowd source tiers. Still though at $99, I decided to see how this Lab experience went and ordered a Tornazo 2 on March 19, 2026.

All paddles have to clear the crowd source minimums before going to production, and this paddle did that. On April 7, I got an email update saying that the paddle would not ship until June. I agreed with this timeline and was rewarded with small Luzz accessories as compensation.

The paddle arrived on June 15, 2026, and the Tornazo 2 product page describes the paddle as:

Built for players who want precision and feel in an elongated shape, the Luzz Tornazo 2 delivers a dense, grounded response that puts the ball exactly where you intend it. So more of a control or all court paddle, not a power paddle. Honestly, I was frustrated playing with this paddle for only two games, changing back to my Enhance Turbo MPP. I definitely need more playing time to get a better feel, but to me, it does seem a little harder to rotate and turn the Tornazo. The denseness of the paddle does feel different, but that doesn’t seem to be a differentiator for me.

Sorry to disappoint, but this post is just a picture of the new hybrid shape of the Enhance Turbo MPP. No review, no comparisons, just a pic of the paddle that arrived for a family member.

Hopefully, I can test it out later and compare this shape with the Enhance Turbo MPP elongated and widebody (not in hand yet).

Limited Play with the Luzz Cannon

I got to play one game with a Luzz Cannon compared to just hitting around with it previously. Yep, it’s definitely head heavy compared to the Enhance Turbo MPP or BnB Loco, and the plow through feeling is definitely there. The smaller handle does make the paddle seem more maneuverable, but I was late with the paddle face on several shots. The heavy head took a more noticeable effort to turn compared to the Turbo.

I can’t say I felt more connected with my shots with this Gen 3 paddle. It’s not a bad paddle for the low cost of $109, but I think I’ll stick with my Turbo MPP. I prefer the weight balance of the Turbo, and it is a tad cheaper (before shipping).

Although I do admit that I am a fan of the Luzz Lab concept, prototyping and crowdfunding experimental paddles. I managed to purchase the upcoming Tornazo 2 which is a different feel from what I’m used to but am curious about its control focused play style.

It’s YOUR Fatigue

I started a pickle session with the Boomstik since someone wanted to demo my Enhance Turbo MPP. The Boomstik was comfortable from the start, not needing a lot of time to readjust.

But in hour two after a rest, I noticed a lot more unforced errors. Balls were going long with my paddle inclined upwards. Shots to the sides were going way out, and I felt the paddle twist in my hand a fe times. Guessing from the fatigue, my body mechanics were no longer in tune with Boomstik’s characteristics.

I switched to the Enhance Turbo and could feel the different weight distribution with the Turbo feeling more head heavy. I was concerned that a heavier paddle would introduce other issues, but gladly, it did not. I managed to keep more balls in play with the heavier head resisting any twisting.

Although I don’t like changing paddles during a single play session, this experience helped me understand the differences in paddles and how my fatigued factored in.

It’s Not You and It’s Not Your Paddle

It’s not you, and it’s not your paddle. It’s actually the weather that causes your erratic pickleball play! Or so it seems anyway.

Oddly, I couldn’t get comfortable with my Turbo MPP. The UDRIPPIN grip just felt extra tacky almost like tape or a weak adhesive. Maybe it’s the unusual Kona Low weather condition causing this feel. I only had my Draco as a backup so used that the rest of the session. Took a short bit to get adjusted but played more consistently with the Gherkin before an eventual rainout.

BnB Loco and Enhance Turbo Size Comparison

Nothing scientific or precise and not more commentary about performance of either of these excellent paddles. Just some pictures comparing the size differences in the profiles of the Bread and Butter Loco hybrid and the Enhanced Turbo MPP elongated.

As expected, the elongated Turbo is longer than the Lcoo from buttcap to top. But the hybrid Loco is wider.

Here’s how the top shape of both paddles compares. The elongated is longer… but not by much.

A closer look at how much more reach the elongated Turbo will get over the hybrid Loco. Not sure if I could tell on the courts.

The width of the Loco is more perceivable but still within half an inch of the Turbo.

Both handles feel on the smaller side (which I prefer). Paddles are over-gripped with Udrippin, orange is comfort tour while turquoise is pro tour. Both handles and overgrows are great!

The Enhance Turbo MPP Is So Good

Sure, I had shanks near the edge of the paddle but otherwise, each hit felt solid and controlled. I guess that means the sweet spot is huge? I’m using a stock Turbo MPP with no weight customizations.

So yes, the Enhance Turbo MPP is a must have paddle for the price. But like I mentioned before, that cost for Hawaii is higher due to $30 shipping. Discount codes will knock the Turbo price down from $119.99 to $99.99 with free shipping in the continental US. But Hawaii being Hawaii, getting goods here simply costs more.

However, if you order multiple Turbos (MPP or EPP models), it looks like the shipping is still $30 for the entire order. However, the $20 code discount applies only once, not to each paddle.

The Enhance Turbo Elongated MPP Is a Must Have

Wow, just wow. Played my first few games using the new Enhance Turbo MPP in the elongated shape (the only MPP shape currently available) and while the paddle felt familiar, the overall feel and gameplay was impressively excellent.

More controllable than the Selkirk Boomstik.

More comfortable than the Gherkin Draco.

Cheaper than the Bread and Butter Loco but feels the most like the Loco.

The Enhance Turbo MPP at $99 is a must have, especially for those looking to upgrade from their starter paddles. Many of the characteristics of top paddles available in a $99 package just can’t be ignored.

More play testing is needed for sure, but kitchen play was very comfortable (maybe even effortless) and I didn’t feel like I had to adjust anything.
