Tasha Kobashigawa Is Still Flying

Gee Why — Thu, 13 Oct 2011 08:08:33 +0000

A chance encounter. Standing in line at the Honolulu International Airport, waiting to depart to LAX. I turn around and see a face, a familiar face. Same but different. Then it hits me:

“This is my final broadcast.”

It’s none other than former-KITV-news-anchor-turned-pilot Tasha Kobashigawa. Although she wasn’t piloting this United flight, it appeared she was on her way to meet up with another flight. Yes, Tasha Kobashigawa is still flying.

Sorry, not the greatest image.

Tasha Kobashigawa Still a Hit

Even though Tasha Kobashigawa is no longer on the air, she’s still a hit on the Net with quite a few searches for her name.

Pulpconnection’s video of her final broadcast comes up as a Google top 10. Under Google Images, my poor man’s vidcap of her final broadcast is the first image listed.

Fun!

She finished in a 5-way tie for 3rd place in the Listmania of Hottest Local Newscasters. With her departure, KHNL now has the most friendliest faces on local television.

Stephanie Lum started with an early lead and kept it (maybe something about marathon runners being hot). Dave Erickson jumped to second place at the very end, followed by a bunch with three votes each. The anchor spot got the most votes and watch KHNL or KITV for friendly faces.

Today’s Local Celebrity Encounters

Gee Why — Sat, 10 Sep 2005 02:02:00 +0000

Ran across three local celebrities while in the Ward area today. While eating lunch at Kakaako Kitchen, saw KITV news dudes Dan Meisenzahl and Rob DeMello.

Then the highlight of the day must have been seeing No Ka Oi classmate, Clifford “Kalai” Miller at Borders. It was great to see the buffed up actor strutting his stuff around the store then walking past me without an acknowledgment. Must be he didn’t remember me since I was holding my daughter.

Oh well. I did pick up the boo Buzz Marketing with Blogs for Dummies so that I can figure out what the heck I’m doing here.
