The Year of the Yao
Rated PG for crude language. Chee sing!

Over many years, the leaders of SAS Institute have distilled a set of principles for getting peak performance from creative people. Among them: Value the work over the tools, reward excellence with challenges, and minimize hassles.
Read the entire (excellent) article in the Harvard Business Review.

daddytypes.com, the weblog for new dads, is pretty cool. All kinds of topics for new fathers. I especially like the strollers category.
Here’s my contribution to daddytypes, a picture of Chris Martin (lead singer of Coldplay) taking daughter Apple for a stroll in a black Bugaboo Frog.

What’s with this Getting Things Done (GTD) craze? I’ve read about it here and there and found the site 43folders.com that is dedicated to GTD. Maybe I better get smart on GTD so that I can get things done!
Update: Wired.com has an article about GTD-GTD: A New Cult for the Info Age
We’re hosting a Make-Your-Own-Sushi party this coming weekend. Check out the details at Evite.

Merynn’s fussy and wailing away then she hears Tupac’s California Love playing from my iPod. She immediately stops crying to listen. Who knew my little girl likes Rap music?!

I heard an interesting discussion about whether or not Robert Horry belongs in the NBA HoF. Forget his 7.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, and 2.3 apg career averages. In his 13 seasons in the League, Horry’s been in the post season each year, starting with the Rockets, then the Lakers, and now the Champion Spurs. I remember him coming into the League as the Poor Man’s Pippen.
Altogether, “Big Shot Bob” has 6 championship rings.
He holds the all-time record for 3PT FG in the Finals, eclipsing MJ. Don’t forget about all his big shots he’s hit throughout his career. Did you see that left handed jam in the Spurs-Pistons series?
If winners are voted into the Hall, then Horry belongs. 13 seasons, six rings.

The NBA had its 2005 Draft so there’s a few more young millionaires running around out there. Andrew Bogut going number one isn’t too surprising-a polished center with passing skills is hard to look over. Marvin Williams is a good match for the rebuilding Hawks. They got some young guys so it’ll be a few years.
Deron Williams as the third pick to the Jazz?? I didn’t know he was that good. He looked solid during the NCAA tournament, but out of the trio of Illini guards, I didn’t think Deron would go before Luther Head (or Dee Brown). I guess the Jazz is hoping he’s the next Stockton.
Wow, watching TV shows provided via the Internet is very cool! Missed shows from Smallville, Desperate Housewives, and Grey’s Anatomy are way better to watch, especially in HDTV format! BitTorrent is an amazing technology.
We took Merynn for her one-month old pictures at Sears. Proofs are available for on-line viewing at:
