Watch the Hawaii iPhone Debut
If you too were watching the iPhone action from the sidelines, don’t worry. You can see the action as it unfolded at the Ala Moana Apple Store in this video. Yes, Tannya Joaquin was there reporting for KHON2 News.

It took a little while longer than I thought, but Hawaii continues its fad-ish ways by joining in the iPhone frenzy and making the iPhone a sellout throughout the state.
Yep, if you go to one of the two (three in the future) Apple Stores in Hawaii, you can’t go home with an iPhone. I think the local AT&T stores are sold out as well since they received less phones than Apple’s retail stores.
I don’t know if the non-availability of the iPhone merely increases its hype and desirability?
No wonder the iPhones are selling out. Lindsay Lohan is starting the new iPhone trend. Now I really gots to get mine.

Happy 21st Birthday Lindsay. :s

Well, well, the frenzy of the iPhone actually did continue throughout its release weekend. Now Apple’s iPhone Availability web site is showing both the Ala Moana and Kahala Apple Stores as being sold out of iPhones.
I wonder if the iPhone was an island wide sell out?

Though I thought the iPhone would sell out over its release weekend, as of Saturday night, iPhones were still available at both Apple Stores in Hawaii. This according to Apple’s iPhone availability system.
Some AT&T stores sold out, but there’s still a day to go to see if the iPhone can indeed sell out statewide.
Oh no, I missed the iPhone release!
| From Windward AT&T… |
Actually, I wasn’t planning on getting one (on release day that is), but while cruising around Kaneohe late Friday night, I figured I’d drive by the Windward AT&T store. Looks like this store survived any iPhone frenzy.

As the last place for iPhones to go on sale, news of the iPhone frenzy is all over the media. Because of sell outs in other states, could hoarding iPhones in Hawaii be occurring?
True, true, purchases at the Apple Stores are limited to 2 per person, but it seems as those in line at the Ala Moana Apple Store may be buying two iPhones each just because! eBay has their fair share of iPhone resells with typically prices hovering around $1000.
Coverage of the Hawaii iPhones sales will be on at least KHNL and KITV with crews already there. Good thing HPD is on the scene providing security against microphone thieves!

I saw a replay of this while watching the iPhone frenzy unfold. A guy at the New York Apple Store tried to steal the mic of a Fox News reporter instead of trying to grab the iPhone of interviewee Steven Levy.
Check out the guy carrying a tripod and other equipment hip check/fore arm shiv the perpetrator to the ground!

Will be watching the iPhone frenzy from the sidelines today. Already saw numerous clips on CNN about the iPhone and folks waiting in line in New York. The Honolulu Advertiser has the iPhone on the front page, and fans are already in line at the Apple Store at Ala Moana.
I’m hoping to see a live “lifecast” of being in line at the Apple Store or an AT&T outlet while getting an iPhone.

You know you want an iPhone, and Apple and AT&T know it as well. So instead of providing price breaks and cheap migrations from other service plans, the two companies are playing hardball and got you by your cajones.
No discounts on the iPhone. Mandatory two-year service plan. No Go phone upgrades. No SIM card swapping.
Ouch! Can you feel that squeezing?!
Today was the first day public reviews of the iPhone were authorized for release. Here’s David Pogue’s video review of the iPhone in action. Pretty humorous!
