Canned Starbucks Iced Coffee

Joining the Double Shot, Starbucks is introducing a new canned drink, simply named “Iced Coffee.”

A light, refreshing Iced Coffee drink made with Starbucks Italian Roast coffee and just a hint of milk and sugar.

Starting May 1, local Starbucks is supposed to have samples of this new drink sold in grocery stores.

So before you go in to ask your boss for a raise, be sure to pick up a few cans, offer one to your boss, and hope the persuasive effects of caffeine kicks in.

As reported on Wayne’s World, Starbucks is offering people a coffee break with a free cup of coffee (at participating locations) from 10:00 to 12:00. Word is this coffee break is Starbucks’ way of smashing new competition posed by McDonald’s Premium Roast Coffee.

So if you’re not busy teaching, correcting, planning, aligning, and helping, yet alone blogging, go down to your nearest Starbucks for a caffeine hit.

Hawaii Starbucks Are Now For Real

Hawaii Starbucks are now real Starbucks after the parent company bought out its local partner, Coffee Partners Hawaii. So now employees are full fledged Starbucks workers.

For the customers, everything should be coffee as usual. Although I wonder when Starbucks International will offer the same menu as Starbucks. You can’t find the new Cinnamon Dolce Latte at the local Starbucks which are of the International variety. Maybe at the Airport location which for some reason is affiliated with the domestic Starbucks.

Starbucks Teaming with Apple?

Not sure how legit this is, but kinda makes sense for Apple and Starbucks to team up and do what they do best. Starbucks is getting into the music business so why not push it and get Apple’s popular iTunes and iPods involved?

When you go to Starbucks for a caffeine hit, you would also be able to purchase iTunes(?) digital music and load up your iPod with new tunes all while waiting for your Caramel Macchiato.

Now, how can my other favorite brand, Nike, get involved in this soiree?

How Many Starbucks on Oahu?

I’m not as smart as this guy’s Starbucks Center of Gravity, so I just looked up the number of Starbucks we have in Hawaii, specifically on Oahu.

If I count correctly, there are 38 Oahu locations you can get your caffeine fix at!

Here’s the general breakdown:

  • Honolulu 15
  • Leeward 11
  • Waikiki 9
  • Windward 3
  • Kalihi 0

Okay, okay, I added that Kalihi part, but did you notice that there’s no SBux in Kalihi?

Starbucks is Infant-friendly

Hot water. Never knew how important it was and how hard it is to find. Heating up milk or preparing baby formula? Need the hot water. Pay for a cup of hot water? Youch!

But there’s Starbucks. Lots of hot beverages there. Lots of Starbucks springing up all over the place. Must be a good place to find hot water. Free? Alright. Tall, Grande, or Venti? Even better. Warm or piping hot? Unreal.

So pop your Clomids, use your Woman C ovulation thermometer and DIY Male Fertility Kit, and get your groove on cause Starbucks will be there when you need hot water for your child.

Windward Mall Getting Renovated

Windward Mall is getting a much needed facelift with a $23-million renovation planned for the Summer of 2006. The last renovation was in 1982 when JC Penneys was the hottest place to shop.

Yeah, we know about the opening of Ruby Tuesdays and IHOP and the return of Farrells. A 22,000-square foot bookstore is also planned. Hmm.. not sure about the viability of that one. How about a few more $1 stores for good measure? And how about a coffee place like Starbucks (oops, across the street already), Coffee Bean, or Seattle’s Best?

I’ve called Windward Mall a (financial) deathtrap in the past, but with these improvements, it’ll be a swanky deathtrap instead.

Starbucks Making a Move in England

Today’s Honolulu Advertiser has an interesting article about the growing popularity of coffee and coffee drinks in the United Kingdom. In fact, the steady increase of coffee is making an impact on tea sales.

Starbucks has something to do with this shift. Starting with a single store in 1998, the Starbucks chain now has 466 stores in Britain with 200 of them in London. For comparison, within New York City, there are 190 Starbucks locations.

Gotta ask Kim about this since she recently returned from England. Although she was supposedly on an archaeological excavation, I’m sure she made time for tea, or was it a Frappuccino?

Starbucks is creating a stir by putting a God-filled quote from the Rev. Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life, on its cups.

Here is the quote:

“You are not an accident. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. He wanted you alive and created you for a purpose. Focusing on yourself will never reveal your real purpose.
