How Was Your Tsunami Day?
So how did your tsunami warning day go? Lively is my say. Luckily, nothing significant occurred for Hawaii but still the day was filled with anticipation as the first projected wave was to hit the islands. Our familu was glued to the television news all morning, watching the traffic cams and hearing the typical outrageous stories that accompany these types of events.
While we didn’t have to venture out of the house, the Kailua area had its share of those getting supplies and gas. We had water and batteries from a recent run to Costco and yes, we even had a hand powered radio from a Christmas grab bag (I think). So it was a wait and see for most of the day. Had there been no tsunami warning, I would have been at Unconferenz 2010.
I wonder what the reaction on Oahu would have been if there were a sizable tsunami hitting Hilo? Sure, there’s nothing you could do at that point, but I do wonder what pandemonium would have ensued. Fortunately, we won’t know.
One bright spot of the day was a rare win for the UH Men’s Basketball team. Already in the cellar of the WAC, UH beat Nevada who’s near the top of the WAC standings. Must be all the excitement and adrenaline from the day carried over to the Bows’ performance.
How did your day go?

Where Will Farmers Hawaii Show Up Next?
Farmers Insurance Hawaii is making its presence known in the islands with a marketing blitz. They’re at the movies, at the mall, and at sporting events. Where will Farmers Hawaii show up next?
Could it be the music scene? Look at what I ran across.
Who knew? Kanye and Farmers? Farmers and Kanye? Sure, why not? I can’t wait for the Kanye/Farmers collaboration collectible! 😉
Music Video of the Day: Rihanna – Rude Boy
Rihanna’s Rude Boy video takes cues from back in the day. I wanna say Buffalo Stance (giggolo, huh, sucka) by Neneh Cherry.
Kanye and Drake in Hawaii?
So the duo of Kanye West and Drake might be in Hawaii after all. And it looks like Kanye and the crew ball at the Y.
Kanye’s comeback rising from Hawaii? Amazing.
Wal-Mart Gots the Vudu!
Not sure what to make of Wal-Mart’s acquisition of Vudu. At first glance, the pairing seems like an odd combination. Sure Wal-Mart wants in on the streaming business but is it a right fit for both companies or should I kiss my useful Vudu box good bye?
Speaking of Vudu, did you catch my five-part initial review back in 2008? No? Here’s the links if you’re interested in Vudu.
Caked in Hawaii
Thanks to the travels of @abaggy, newly opened Caked in Las Vegas is now in Hawaii. Well, some of the Caked goodies are here in the islands anyways.
And they won’t last for long! 🙂
