iPhone Reviews Now Available
Today was the first day public reviews of the iPhone were authorized for release. Here’s David Pogue’s video review of the iPhone in action. Pretty humorous!

The service plans for the iPhone are now available (starting plan at only $59.99 per month!). But the real interesting thing is that users need to activate the service using the iTunes software.
Now it makes sense to use iTunes to get the movies, music, and other goodies onto the iPhone but Apple made an interesting strategic choice by forcing iPhone users to use iTunes. That’ll mean more iTunes downloads (and more QuickTime downloads as well). Very smart!
In today’s Honolulu Advertiser, there’s a special tribute to local song artist, Israel Kamakawiwo`ole. And better yet, there’s a free CD single featuring the orchestral remix of Iz’s What a Wonderful World.
The entire Wonderful World CD will be available on Tuesday, June 26. You can preview the CD and order on-line here.
Uh oh, another music purchase?

Top NBA prospect, Greg Oden, signed an endorsement deal with Nike continuing his affiliation with the the company. Throughout Ohio State’s run for a National Championship, all the Buckeyes wore Nike Zoom LeBron IV’s.
I wonder if he’ll get his own signature shoe, aka the Air Odens? Though “big man” shoes simply don’t sell. Shoes endorsed by David Robinson, Alonzo Mourning, Patrick Ewing just didn’t move. All ballers want to be like the slashing, high flying, scoring guards. They want to be like Mike.
And one more…
Update: Oden blogged about joining the Nike family.

Apple released a guided tour of the upcoming iPhone showing how to use the device and some of its cool features. You can stream the tutorial to your computer or download the 175 MB, 24-minute tour.
Whoa, Word and Excel viewing is there. And yes, YouTube videos are available so you too can watch a skateboarding dog. Or… you can watch a snippet of Lost at Club 939, or coverage of the Honolulu Marathon 2006, or even an iPod Christmas prank.
I know I’ve done my part recently in contributing to the iTunes Store rise in music sales. The iTunes Store has now moved into third place of all music retailers. This includes brick and mortar stores like Best Buy and Borders.
The iTunes Store took third place away from Target while Best Buy remains second and Wal-Mart in the pole position. In January of this year, the iTunes Store overtook Amazon for fourth place.
I doubt the on-line only iTunes Store can supplant Best Buy and Wal-Mart. Best Buy maybe, but Wal-Mart would be tough with its sheer number of customers.

The hype over the upcoming iPhone is definitely going into overdrive. AT&T stores and even Apple Stores (I think) will be closing then reopening for the official launch. AT&T will prevent hoarding of the device by hypebeasts, but predicts their stock of iPhones to sell out in 24-48 hours. So of course, more people will now have to get their iPhone before it sells out!

What can I say but call me Kobe. For starters, you know Kobe’s cocky (though dropping 81 in a game can boost your ego) and of course, all private school kids are cocky. Kobe’s been having some disagreements with management and so have I, but I haven’t gone to the extreme of videotrashing the bosses and teammates. I’ve just been accused of plain old trashing, and I really do like the team mates.
Maybe off-season moves are needed? Or maybe just a break from the scene?
But then again, controversy has some benefits.

At work today, I got an email about a blog post I wrote on our internal blogging system. I had ranted about how a web site could be improved with simple fixes.
This post made the rounds and offense was taken, and email started about the non-professionalism of blogs (as a whole, not just my post).
Tomorrow may be an interesting day…

A while back Angry Asian Girl talked about bakeries and how some made “nasty” cakes. While she didn’t elaborate on what nasty cakes were, I think I found an example.
