I’m in the Money!
Woo hoo! My Google AdSense advertising is actually paying off. For the month of April that had about 695 hits, I accumulated a whopping $1.08 in my AdSense account.
Yay, a round of waters is on me!

Fireswamp denizen, Kazuo, explained to me what a “self-licking ice cream cone” was a few years back after he used it on me. I forget the subject we were discussing, but that was the first time I heard that phrase.
Brings back memories as some recent ventures appear to be self-licking ice cream cones.
What is a self-licking ice cream cone? This site defines it as “something that is very clever but entirely self serving and essentially useless.” Very apropos.
I’m by no means a professional movie critic, and heck, I haven’t seen a flick in about a year (Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith was the last one I think). I got a chance to watch X-Men: The Last Stand on opening day and instead of writing a review, how about spoiling the movie? A few notes before I get into it. $6.25 for a matinee? Wow, prices have come up. And the movie is rated PG-13 for good reason. Don’t bring kids to watch this movie. Even though it’s based on a comic book, the movie rendition is not for kids. If you’re planning on watching the movie then stop reading. If you want the spoilers, continue after the image below.

Okay, you all set? Here we go. They all die! Okay, not all of them, but X-Men do die in the movie. What a shocker! I sat there stunned thinking the deaths was just a weird, fake dream sequence or something, but no. Cyclops (Scott Summers), Professor X, and Jean Grey (Phoenix) all go down in The Last Stand. Jean Grey plays a pivotal part of the movie, rising as the Dark Phoenix. With limitless power, the Dark Phoenix slays Cyclops with a kiss and obliterates Xavier in a chess match of their minds. A few evil mutants die as well, but who cares. Magneto is “cured” of his abilities which seem to be returning at the very end of the movie (paving a way for sequels). Thanks to his regenerative healing ability, Wolverine saves the day from the out of control Dark Phoenix. If you’re still interested, go see the movie for its intense action sequences that helped break some box-office records.
Update: Looks like a fourth installment of the X-Men is set.

She didn’t have a butterfly pan but got one for us and didn’t charge extra. Pricing is very affordable and customer service is great!
Check out the new t-shirt design for Club 939. The new shirts are white unlike the original black tees.
Oh yeah, don’t bother heading to the club on Monday. They’re closed for business while employees are treated to a company retreat. Yep, you heard me. Fostering teamwork and cooperation is vital to any business you know. Although, this retreat is a little progressive featuring a pole, Twister, and a Slip ‘N Slide. But you know the saying, “When in Rome…”

Apple recently updated its web-publishing app, iWeb, adding new features. The 1.1 (and 1.1.1) updates now support comments on blog entries, adds a search function, and includes new themes along with behind-the-scenes fixes.
Check out some of these new features on my test iWeb site.
Just a little more proof that blog searching sites like Technorati work. Yesterday, Pulpconnection received 142 hits, a record high. The main draw was the post about the Top Chef finale and most of the hits funneled through Technorati.
In a typical day, Pulpconnection gets about 30 hits. I made the Top Chef post about 11:00 on Wednesday night. Around 8:00 the next morning, there were already 80 hits, and hits kept coming throughout the day.
What does this 5x increase in hits show? Technorati works and Top Chef has an audience. 🙂

Just one last tidbit from the Top Chef finals. Here are the results from my unofficial, on-line poll of who will be Top Chef.

Even in this poll, Harold was the clear favorite. I started the poll before part one of the final competition so Dave Martin was a valid choice.
Thanks to everyone who voted!

I’m only a fair-weather Lost follower but did watch the taped season finale (since Top Chef was ending). Some answers were finally provided but of course, more mysteries arose. Pushing that darn button every 108 minutes actually does something and isn’t just a psych experiment. If you don’t reset the timer, Magneto from the X-Men apparently wakes up does weird thing to metallic items.
The “Others” only keep the good looking, white folk (without kids). Everyone else need not apply. Hurley of Hispanic heritage was one of the targets but was told to go home and tell his hommies not to cross the border. Michael and his son were put on a boat. The Others didn’t even want the Asians or the Iraqi, Sayid. The kooky Eko is in his own spiritual world, and the Hobbit is too goofy looking for the Others. The self-proclaimed good guys have some high standards in order to run with their crowd.
Did Desmond die? And what’s the deal with his girlfriend who has enough cash to have guys sitting around waiting for Magneto to wake up?
If you missed this finale, don’t forget you can watch a streaming version free from ABC or buy a no-commercial version from iTunes.

Learned about this special collection of shoes and clothing celebrating “the true shot-callers” while skimming the HypeBeast. The Collection Royale features “players who give us a glimpse into the future of the playing field.”
C’mon, where’s Michelle Wie, the Queen of Clubs?! I guess she’s too new to the Nike stable to get this high profile feature. That Nike Dunk Golf is all hers for the making.
