The Benes of Social Media Klout
Being influential in social media circles has its benefits. The Wall St. Journal takes a look at social media and influence.
I must admit that I’ve had many fortunate experiences and opportunities afforded by social media, the most recent being a Nike Courtside early adopter. Mike Sumida has his story about the benes he’s received from social media.
And of course, gotta give a shout out to Klout!
Don Quijote Kailua No More
Don Quijote Kailua closed its business on Saturday, February 5, and already their signage is no more.
Tigre and Bunny Are Smiling
We like the cars, the cars that go boom,
We’re Tigre and Bunny and we like the boom.
Somewhere in the world, the L’Trimm pair are smiling after learning that cars in Hawaii can keep the boom. Bomb the bass and turn up the treble!

I’m on TV!
Well sorta. We were at Don Quijote Kailua on their last day of business. The local news stations were there too and filmed me in the background of some clips. Here’s the KHON2 broadcast segment.
Look at the 0:37-0:41 second mark. See the guy wearing the black Air Jordan cap? That’s me walking and loading up the van! Can’t see it? I’ll help you out (click on the images for a larger view).
Yet Another Radio Shakeup
No sooner than I post my Hawaii radio lineup, there’s a shakeup on the airwaves. Gone is 93.1 The Zone and its pop music lineup. From this week, it’s 93.1 Da Pa`ina playing reggae music. Monday I heard Bob Marley, and this morning there was Damian Marley welcoming me to Jamrock.
What’s the deal with the Hawaii radio shakeup?
Photovoltaic Halved My Electric Bill!
In mid-December, our home photovoltaic system installed by RevoluSun went online. Here’s what our HECO electricity consumption looks like.
That’s about half! And of course, that means our monthly bill is half of what we typically pay! Also, keep in mind the short days and abysmal weather in December and January. Remember all that rain, flash flood warnings, and overall overcast skies? Not great for sun-reliant systems, but our photovoltaic system was still able to harness the sun’s energy to reduce our HECO bill significantly. Here’s a daily log of power production from January to February.
Can you imagine what happens when the weather clears and the sun stays out longer? So what are you waiting for? Call RevoluSun at 808-748-8888, ask for Shane (or any consultant), and you can be sun powered! Savings await!
Game On (with Farmers Hawaii)!
Will the Super-ness of this Bowl not end with the fifth showing of Farmers Hawaii’s High Note? Okay, okay, if High Note fatigue is setting in, check out my all time favorite Farmers Hawaii commercial. This one is New Lower Rates for Safe Drivers.
What’s so special about this TV spot? It’s the little Easter egg cameos by the staff, family, and even cars of Farmers Hawaii employees. That’s keeping it real!
It’s Almost Game Time (with Farmers Hawai)
It’s so close to game time with the Steelers taking on the Packers, and who’s there? Farmers Insurance, leading us to Super Bowl XLV with another High Note.
Before kickoff, how about remembering this Farmers Hawaii blast from the past? It’s Mars versus Venus. Look at them crazed UH football fans!
Farmers Hawaii in the Super Bowl Pre-Game
It’s still hours until the start of Super Bowl XLV, and Farmers Hawaii has their third showing of their High Note commercial on the local airwaves.
What was Farmers Hawaii commercials like before Jake Shimabukuro? The company’s president, Michele Saito, took us through a trip through history, reminding us of ohana.
