Not sure about Pearlridge, but Kahala Mall management is very cognizant of the fact that their Starbucks is a popular destination and open that side of the mall early for them as well as keeping all mall entrances open to midnight when that Starbucks location closes. It also helps that they have regular senior aerobic classes a couple of times a week at 7am.

But yeah, that’s kinda lame that the mall won’t open one entrance so people can get coffee. Are you sure that the in store Starbucks’s location hours match what they have posted online/in app? I’ve run into that problem where the online info didn’t match their actual operating time.

Heh, I actually called the Starbucks inside and asked about their hours. They said they open at 7:30 and I kinda hinted at my question of how do I get there. They told me the IHOP route. I tried going through IHOP where a worker told me about not opening the interior door until 8am when the mall opens its doors. I asked about a Starbucks inside and was told they open at 8 as well (I didn’t expect the IHOP employee to know the operating hours of Starbucks). So in short, the online hours did match actual operating hours.

I’ve seen many senior citizens walking around inside of Windward Mall before stores were open but this was probably at a later time (after 8am).

I walked to the drive-thru location across the street in about 5-10 minutes so it didn’t end up being a big deal, just one of those things…

Maybe they open at 7:30 to allow employees at other stores a chance to get some Starbucks before the mall opens?

That’s probably the most reasonable answer, David. Though the general mall hours are from 10 to 9 on weekdays, so there aren’t that many stores with employees coming in at 7:30 I would guess. The Sears Auto Center opens at 7:30 so the coinciding Starbucks opening time doesn’t really help them. IHOP is one, if not the only, open store. The Straub Clinic in the mall (which also has its own exterior AND interior entrances) doesn’t open until 8am though I would guess their employees arrive before 8. Not sure when the mall management arrives. So yeah, a 7:30 Starbucks opening could help some mall workers, but business may be better if the public (like those waiting at Sears) can get to the location.
