Smashing Pumpkins Tarantula Available!
Just noticed that the first single, Tarantula, from the Zeitgeist reunion of the Smashing Pumpkins is now available on iTunes. So drop that low quality MP3 version and get the good stuff.

Since Apple Stores have blocked MySpace access on their display computers, I’ve joined Facebook, the other social network. Actually, I joined for the heck of it to see what Facebook is all about. It’s pretty cool how it works and can find you friends and colleagues based on the information you provide.
Sad my life cause I only have one friend. 🙁

Late last night, I noticed that Pulpconnection hit 20,000 visits according to SiteMeter. Yay!

In November 2006, Pulpconnection reached 10,000 hits, and Mr. 939/-s won the Pulpconnection Prize Pack. I completely missed the 20,000 visit milestone so I don’t have a prize pack prepared. 🙁
Using Google’s fantastically redone Analytics, here are some details of the journey to 20,000 from November 2006 to May 2007.

I hope everyone keeps coming back for more pulp, passions, and addictions!
Thanks,
Gee Why

While cruising around the iTunes Store, I came across some interesting new music releases this week.
DJ Ricardo! Presents Out Anthems, Vol. 2. Despite the gay theme, I liked Volume 1 so I’m hoping Volume 2 is just as good. No reviews available yet…
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (Remixes). Yes, there are dance/techno remixes of music from the movie. Four stars from four reviews.

Just got through my first experiment playing around with Yahoo Pipes. Pipes is a recent addition to Yahoo that lets hacks like me visually piece together “programming code.”

Following this simple tutorial, I mashed up several individual RSS feeds into one single feed for easier consumption.
So easy it’s scary!
O’Reilly has a Pipes Short Cuts available for further reading.

June 7 lunchtime – save the date to say goodbye to one of our coworkers.
More details later…
Now this has to be the shizzle! Along with finding old baseball and basketball cards, I came across my collection of computer gear. Check this out – a Practical Peripherals PM2400SA modem!

This sucker got you online at a whopping 2400 bits per second. Can you even surf the web at 2.4 speeds?
Here’s a list of init strings if you need them.
Doing more rummaging in my old card collection, I found this Robert Horry card. Big Shot Bob was a lot skinnier back in the day (but weren’t we all?).
Kinda looks like his rookie card, but I have a feeling not.

While moving stuff around the house, I came across my sports card collection that includes some older stuff from my brother. Reggie Jackson, Al Kaline, Pete Rose, Willie Mays.

Not sure where these are from and why they’re so big.
Hey, you see a movie ticket stub from Terminator 2?! From 1991!
It’s a nice day outside – sunny, slight breeze, blue skies. A great day for thinking and solving problems. Grab yourself a beverage, a quiet place, and start solving them problems!
Olympic speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno has conquered another challenge, winning the championship of Dancing with the Stars. Apolo and partner Julianne Hough beat out Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson for the Disco Ball trophy. Earlier in the Finals results show, Laila Ali and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were eliminated with the least number of viewer votes. So the search appeal of Julianne, Kym, and Laila was right on the money.
Now for some random tidbits. You know everything on MySpace is for real right? Stuff like how a Senior Janitor can run his own gentlemen’s club. So anyways, Julianne Hough apparently has a MySpace page (she is only 18 ya know – OMG!) that leads you into an underground cult of Dancing with the Stars and DWTS MySpace friends. Cheryl Burke? Yep, she’s on MySpace. Edyta Sliwinska represent! Maksim (with 6832 billion friends), Tony Dovolani, Elena Grinenko (Clyde Drexler’s partner) present and accounted for. Lisa Rinna? Yeah, she’s MySpacing. Host Samantha Harris?! She’s really 99 years old?! Stacy Keibler’s there, but she went private. Sadly, I couldn’t find Len Goodman’s MySpace page, maybe he’s on Facebook? Drats, nope! There’s only the Len Goodman Appreciation Society and a Dancing with the Stars 2007 fan group. I gotta say that Maksim’s MySpace page is the best designed without all the psychedelic background patterns and images.

Is it me or is Laila Ali everything Taye Diggs should be?
And did the Portland Trailblazers really get the number 1 pick in the upcoming NBA draft? NFW! SMH. Lucky n00bs.

Read about the Polk Audio SurroundBar speaker “system,” and it sounds and looks cool. It’s advertised as “Five channels. One speaker. Zero clutter.” Nice!
