The long awaited Microsoft operating system, Windows Vista, launches tomorrow, January 30. It’s been five years since Microsoft released a new OS, and Microsoft is so confident that users will like Vista that it is asking them to show us your Wow.
My Wow contribution would be, “Wow! There’s a lot of versions of Vista available. Which one is for me?” There’s the Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, and Limited Bill Gates Signature Edition of Vista to sort through, and don’t forget the upgrade versions are available as well. Are any of these Mac compatible?
My other Wow contribution would be, “Wow! How come the Chief of Windows at Microsoft, Jim Allchin, is retiring a few days after Vista releases?”
Not going to line up at Best Buy or CompUSA for your copy of Vista? Then check out the Vista Launch Event in New York.

Sorry if this competition is an American tradition, but I have to say that after 5 minutes looking at the Miss America web site, I say it sucks.
First off, the News & Events section on the splash page is riddled with “click here” links. Every update has a “click here for this” or “click here for that.” How about just linking the title of the update or words in the update?
Second, go to the 2007 Competition page and take a look. Is that a typo? “Mis America?” Come on now.
And looking at previous Miss Americas, you are posed with yet more “Click here for more info” links.
Just terrible, but represent Hawaii Pilialoha Kalai Gaison (who’s dating Kalai).

The ABC hit, Lost, recently filmed on site at Club 939, and it went something like this. Sorry, no secrets or spoilers, just a behind-the-scenes view of the making of a television show.
In search for a local strip club for a future episode, the location crew of Lost visited several establishments before ending up at Hawaii’s Premier Gentlemen’s Club. Liking what they saw, several site surveys followed with progressively more senior staff getting involved and the executive producers giving the final go ahead.
Not to interfere with 939’s daily business, the Lost setup crew started their work after closing at 2am and finished by 6am when shooting was scheduled to begin. To support this on-location filming, there were many trailers for wardrobe, equipment, makeup, and even their own catering service.
Club 939 employees were allowed to try out at a casting call for extras. About ten members were selected for roles as dancers, bartenders, DJs, and club patrons (check out that tie).
After 4 hours of shooting scenes over and over at different angles, the day was finally done. In total though, this shoot will probably equal a few seconds of airtime on the show. But now, members of 939 can be considered official members of the Lost crew.
This episode will air near the end of March, and Club 939 will be having a viewing party. Keep watching Lost and look for upcoming talent from Club 939.

Just a few juicy rumors concerning Forrest Gump’s favorite fruit company.
Full screen iPod announced during SuperBowl XLI? Take the iPhone, rip out the Phone part, and you got yourself a full screen video iPod. A special edition with music from the Beatles to corroborate Apple’s special announcement?
Apple Special Event coming soon? Where are the new Mac products that weren’t discussed at Macworld? iLife ’07? iWork ’07? Maybe Apple saved up some goodies so they don’t have another boring Special Event like the one in February 2006.
Looks like the Starbucks/Apple relationship will be getting serious in ’07. While a rumor in 2006, this recently announced venture will let you buy downloadable music at Starbucks stores sometime this year and load them directly to your music player (most likely an iPod).
Starbucks already has an exclusive Starbucks Entertainment section on the iTunes Store. This partnership will transform this on-line arrangement into a physical one at the brick-and-mortar Starbucks stores. I wonder if I’d be able to buy a Cinnamon Dolce Latte with an iTunes gift card?
