Okay, so cutting back on workouts and not watching what I eat isn’t good for the old waistline. But thanks to a promotion by Macys and Dockers, there’s an upside to all of this. Fat daddy has a new phat iPod Shuffle. Wow, it’s tiny.

Fox has a new TV series, Bones, starting on September 13. Here’s an snippet of the show’s description:
…the darkly amusing drama BONES, inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs. Forensic anthropologist DR. TEMPERANCE BRENNAN (Emily Deschanel, “Boogeyman”), who works at the Jeffersonian Institution and writes novels as a sideline, has an uncanny ability to read clues left behind in a victim’s bones. … Brennan often finds herself teamed with Special Agent SEELEY BOOTH (David Boreanaz, “Angel”), a former Army sniper who mistrusts science and scientists when it comes to solving crimes. Brennan and Booth clash both professionally and personally, but so far the chemistry between them has only played out in a fictionalized account in Brennan’s latest mystery novel.
David (“Angel”) Boreanaz resurfaces in this doomed show. I mean just look at the cast-not so pretty.

Journey’s classic tune Don’t Stop Believin‘ is in the number 8 spot on the iTunes Music Store Top Songs. What’s up with that? It’s a great song, but an anachronism no? (How’s that use of an SAT word? Props to Charlie Proctor!)
Okay, I just did a Google search, and Metafilter has a discussion going. Seems like this song was featured on the second season premiere of Laguna Beach on MTV. I’ve been to Laguna Beach but never watched this show.

It was recently pointed out that the model used in Club 939’s newspaper advertisements is not your typical local girl. If the club is now under local management, why isn’t a “local” model pictured in the ad?
Anyone want to be the local face of 939? Call 808-952-9300 to apply. Alli? Shannon?
Update: Local management has heard the complaints from the blogsphere and is responding with a new ad featuring local girl Apple. Check out Amateur Night on Mondays @939.
Update x2: The new 939 ad with Apple has been posted! Comment away!

The Gap started its iTunes music giveaway promotion, “Find Your Favorite Fit.” Try on a pair of Gap jeans and get one free song.
“Straight for men”-hey, that’s for me!
The Honolulu Advertiser’s Business section has an article titled “Intangible rewards may motivate best.”
Some snippets:
“…more about feeling supported and involved.”
“Ask my opinion. Let me know what’s going on. Involve me in decisions. Back me up when I make mistakes. Give me some autonomy”
“…given interesting, meaningful work and being shown its context and value to the organization”
Oh so true.

Walt Mossberg reviews Apple’s new “no” button mouse in his Technology column. Walt tells it like it is and I usually agree with his comments. Of course, none of his reviews would be complete without mentioning his assistant, Katie. I swear, finding her name in Walt’s columns is like a game of “Where’s Waldo?”
The grand opening for Club 939 starts on August 11 and ends on the 24th. Now under local management. 952-9300

Missed out on the surprise release of the Jordan P-Rods from the Nike SB line of shoes. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, this shoe sold out quick even at the cost of $200. Niketalk has a discussion going. The June 2005 (Issue 8) copy of Sole Collector has a pic on page 73 (the Lebron cover).
Never paid $200 for a pair of kicks (yet). Closest was my Pippen’s and Jordan XVIII.
AJAX (asynchronous Javascript and XML) is making web-based applications very, very interesting. Google Maps is a great example of things to come. Wired.com has a short article about AJAX creating a revolution on the Web.

Actually shopped at Neiman Marcus in Ala Moana and picked up a Together Tunes toy for Merynn. It’s a big cube that plays music every time you turn it to a different side. Give it a smack and more music plays.
Simple but fun!
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head,
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said,
No more monkeys jumping on the bed!
