Support for George Ligman
According to the Star Advertiser, newspaper hawker, George Ligman, is doing better after being hit by a vehicle. In his absence, his chair has been adorned with signs of support from the community.
Additionally, financial donations for George’s medical costs are being accepted at all branches of American Savings Bank and First Hawaiian Bank.
Done with Poke the Box
Finished reading, okay listening to, Seth Godin’s latest, Poke the Box. I prefer listening to Seth’s books as opposed to reading them. While I enjoy his writings, hearing Seth narrate his words with his inflections and idiosyncrasies is more compelling to me.
Poke the Box is all over the place, but the simple message is to start. Nothing will get done if you don’t start, but not only start, but finish aka “ship the product.” Somewhere in this book you’re bound to recognize a situation you’ve been in or are in and see how it all relates. I’m definitely going to replay this audiobook and let the words soak in.
Pictures from the Snow Factory
Almost forgot about these pictures from the Snow Factory. Not quite froyo, not quite shave ice, their concocted blend has accurate flavors. Try the peanut butter, and you’ll agree.
Remebering the Series Finale of Angel
Just remembering the final episode of Angel where the team fought the fight worthy fighting and went up against dragons.
George Ligman’s Beat
Saddening news to hear about a truck hitting long-time newspaper vendor, George Ligman. Never knew his name until this accident, but George has been out there everyday, all day selling the Advertiser for years.
As I drove by his usual spot, there was his empty chair and repair crews were fixing damage caused by the vehicle.
Styling with Civil Beat
At events, I’d see Civil Beat employees sporting custom branded t-shirts. Simple, yet clean designs that I always craved. Through their hospitality, I managed to get one!
Yay! But really, my hidden agenda for wanting this tee? Besides its cool factor, it’s a good match for these Air Max 95 Bright Mandarin kicks!!
Not quite these Civil Beat-inspired kicks, but they’ll do nicely! Thanks again Civil Beat!
Trouble with Emptying Trash in Mac OS X
Had this problem emptying the Trash in Mac OS X Snow Leopard:
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).
Gigs of space were used by my non-emptying Trash. Came across this FAQ about the Trash in OS X which recommended the utility Trash It. Trash It lived up to its name, wiping out all the items in the Trash. Yay!
Night Traffic to Waimanalo
Due to today’s carjacking and shooting and resulting road closures, people are going through Waimanalo to get to Hawaii Kai. At 7:45pm, the traffic was still nasty.
Yogur Story Is an Oasis of “Ohs”
Gave the unusually named Yogur Story a try this weekend, and it is an oasis of “ohs,” from its location, to its decor, to the beauty of it patrons, to the (oh no) warm food.
Where is Yogur Story? Next to the very green Sorabol on Keeaumoku, down the way from 939. Oh, okay, got it. Oh, that place is huge!
Oh wait, this place serves more than yogurt and dessert right?
Oh nice!
Oh yay, starting off with a peppermint latte.
Oh hey, is that @mirthlab downstairs where all the beautiful people sit? And was that Malika Dudley at another table. Oh wow!
What else can you say but OH! in the bathroom.
Oh, the food sounds so good on the menu and looks oh so good, but… oh no, the food is warm.
Despite the one zing of warm food, you need to give Yogur Story a try. It really isn’t what I expected. On Yelp, Yogur Story has an average of 3.5 stars, and I would have to agree. Would have been 4 to 4.5 stars if the food were hot. Still though amazing design elements, modern with playful twists.
Next time, I’ll have to try the yogurt.
