Looks like Apple’s pretty much got a lock for gadget gifts this Christmas. With the introduction of the iPod Shuffle, the Nano, and just yesterday, the video iPod, Apple got all bases covered for the cool Christmas gift this year. Beginners and young’ens can start with the Shuffle, the trendsetters got to have a Nano, and others like Shawna, Nagmai, and T are fiending for the video iPod.

If iPods ain’t your thing, a new iMac makes an excellent family Christmas gift, just ask the Tabasco Man!

Read two articles that made interesting observations about the potential impact of Apple’s new announcements (video iPod, Front Row).

Apple’s Telegraphed Punch
Brief Observations Regarding the New Stuff Announced at Today’s Special Event

So after reading a bunch of recent articles about the popularity and growing use of blogs and learning a thing or two from
Buzz Marketing with Blogs for Dummies, I suggested the use of an internal blog system at a workplace improvement meeting.

There’s been complaints that information is not being shared with other staff members and people not knowing what others are up to. After maintaining this site and keeping up with Wayne’s World and CCTWT, I see how blogs are a natural fit to keep people informed, provide a way to get feedback and comments, and is more effective than email for getting information out there.

But, I knew I was in the wrong crowd when they asked for a printed copy of this proposal. Sigh…

Lots of (unconfirmed) news coming out of Apple’s Special Event.

• New thinner iMac with integrated iSight camera and media card reader
• Bluetooth remote control “Frontrow”
• Photobooth application??
• New PowerMacs
• New video iPods with TV out
• New iTunes 6.0. Can now buy music videos and TV shows like Desperate Housewives for $1.99

Details, details are coming…

Update: Apple’s website is now updated with the new products.

Thought you’d get a chuckle out of this one….

I finally finished my first sudoku puzzle in the daily paper. After the Mililani Packrat explained the rules, I decided to give it a shot. The “easy Monday” puzzle took me a while, especially while watching tapes of Charmed, Desperate Housewives, and Smallville.

I didn’t check my answers so I hope they’re correct. 😉

NBA team, the Los Angeles Lakers, are holding their training camp in Hawaii, leading up to exhibition games against the Golden State Warriors on October 11 and 12. The Lakers missed the playoffs last year and don’t seem much improved this year other than the return of coach Phil Jackson.

The Lakers’ coaching staff has more talent than their current roster. In their heyday, I’d take a team of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Scottie Pippen, Kurt Rambis, and Brian Shaw over Kwame Brown, Devean George, Aaron McKie, Stanislav Medvedenko, and “Smush” Parker(?!). Only Kobe and Lamar Odom got solid NBA cred.

Hey, what’s with the eyes? I thought they were just stys…

The virginal Clark and Lana alone in a candlelit apartment, having just gone through a life-harrowing experience, Coldplay’s A Message playing in the background. Uh oh…

As originally told by the Tobasco Man, Michelle Wie announced she’s now a professional athlete signing deals with Nike and Sony. Reportedly, both contracts are individually worth $4-5 million a year.

I am excited to start my journey as a professional golfer. I fell in love with the game the first day I picked up a club, and to have the opportunity to play at the highest levels of competition is both an honor and a privilege.

After signing her contracts, the Punahou golf phenom pledged $500,000 to help Katrina and Rita victims, a very classy move. No truth to the rumor that an Iolani golf phenom would have donated $1,000,000 (old rivalries die hard 😉 ).

Apple just announced another special Media Event scheduled for October 12 at the California Theater in San Jose. This one is titled “One More Thing…”.

The last special event on September 7 saw the introduction of the iPod Nano, the iTunes-enabled Motorola ROKR, Madonna’s discography available on iTMS, Kanye West rapping, and the all popular Harry Potter series as audiobooks.

What’s in store for this event? Can’t wait to hear Steve Jobs’ famous words, “there’s one more thing…”.

There are many articles out on the Net about Microsoft ending licensing discussions with music labels. The key sticking point is the high costs mandated by the music industry. Microsoft was rumored to launch its own music subscription service, but these plans have been delayed due to this licensing breakdown.

Kinda lends credence to Steve Job’s recent claims that record labels are “getting greedy.”

What can you learn from this? The music industry is muscling back against the Microsoft muscle, and Apple did a great job getting the iTunes Music Store going with 99-cent songs.
