Looking for a Blogging Tool?
While all blogging platforms provide a web-based interface to create and manage posts, I prefer a dedicated desktop blogging app. These apps make it easier to add links, spell check, tag posts, change dates, and more. My primary apps are Ecto and MarsEdit.
But if you’re looking at other blogging apps, check out this review of 15 desktop blogging tools covering both Windows and Mac apps.

YouTube Coming to Tivo
I thought this was announced awhile ago, but maybe now it’s actually happening. Tivo HD and Series 3 boxes will be getting an upgrade allowing YouTube access. Once you get the upgrade, you’ll have all that YouTube offers on your television.
Like this Christmas gift prank…

iPhone 3G Activity Ramping Up
Lots of iPhone 3G talk online today. Apple’s releasing a few software updates in preparation of the official launch tomorrow. New iTunes 7.7 is out (but not showing up in my Software Update) and the MobileMe conversion is also going on.
The revamped email addresses converting from @mac.com to @me.com are already working, and I’ve successfully tested geewhy50@me.com.
iPhone 3G reviews are already out too. Gonna read what Uncle Walt Mossberg has to say…

T-Pain for the Working People
Is it me or does rapper T-Pain fight for the working person? Of course, he got his breakthrough being N Luv (Wit a Stripper). Now he’s singing about the Bartender. What working occupation will he rap about next? Maybe the Stinky Yardman taking material from Gregg Hammer on I-94?
I heard two reggae bits done by Hammer during the morning drive, and they are hilarious. So random but his rhymes are great.

HMSA (and Chinese Food) Going Social
Who knew Hawaii’s largest health care coverage provider, HMSA, was such a social (networking) place? According to Bytemarks, times are chaging with HMSA opening its network tollgates to the likes of MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter.
With this change, it’d be interesting to see if the company can capitalize on and join the social network movement. Who wouldn’t want to talk dental plans on Twitter and post to Facebook and have it followed on FriendFeed? 😉
The next thing you know, local Chinese restaurants on the Windward side will also feature social networking tools to share their new Specials menu, so you too can promote the ono Crispy shell baskets on Reddit, Facebook , Technorati, Digg, Mister Wongs(?!?), MySpace, and more!

Testing Skribit
Playing around with Skribit (sounds like a mix between a frog’s ribit and scribe). Might use this as part of an upcoming contest giveaway…
Thanks Bill Gates?
Read this story about Bill Gates signing off at Microsoft today. I don’t know about you, but the article sure points out a lot of low points of Bill’s career. Not quite what I would expect as a tribute on Gates’ last day. Some quotes from the article:
Microsoft is losing Gates at a time when “cloud computing” is shaking the packaged software foundation on which the company’s fortune is built.
Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system released in January of 2007 has flopped with customers, many of whom are clinging to its predecessor Windows XP.
Vista loathing is heightening interest in free Linux open-source software and Macintosh computers, which use operating systems built by Apple.
Microsoft began selling Zune brand MP3 players in September of 2006 to compete with Apple’s market-dominating iPods, but the devices haven’t been a hit with customers.
Microsoft appears to have failed in a recent bid to buy Yahoo for nearly 50 billion dollars in order to combine online resources to better battle Google in the booming Internet search and advertising sectors.
Uh… thanks??
