The FreedomPop Photon Is Tiny
I learned about FreedomPop, joined the beta program, and in one week, I was holding the Photon Wifi hotspot. It is absolutely tiny! The box is deceptively big, slightly bigger than an AppleTV (2nd generation) box.
I must say that many companies (including FreedomPop) have taken cues from Apple and their simplified yet exquisite boxing. After unboxing the Photon, you’ll be surprised at the size of the actual device.
I’ve barely played with it, but signal strength is good, and setup is absolutely a breeze. If you join the program, let’s become Freedom Friends to increase our bandwidth allotments.

LeBron James the Comic Book
LeBron James is making a fictitious crossover to the comic book world with this special edition LeBron King of the Rings. Available in the October 19 edition of ESPN the Magazine, LeBron has won multiple NBA championships thanks to continued improvements and training. He works on his free throws, picks up zen pick-and-roll tactics from monks, teams with an undead Shane Battier, learns levitation, and even gets his injury-prone legs bionified with adamantium bought off of eBay! Now that’s a comic book storyline for you!

The Faster Starbucks Rewards Debuts Tomorrow
On Tuesday, October 16, 2012, Starbucks launches its revamped Rewards Program. As you recall, this program is now faster. Get a free drink after accumulating 12 stars vice 15. Freebies are available automatically, not via a snail mail-delivered postcard. Oh, and the Starbucks iOS app integrates with Passbook,
Are you excited? I’m excited! Or maybe it’s just the effects of this venti iced coffee…
iPhone 5 Skit on SNL
The (minor) problems with the iPhone 5 have hit the mainstream as spoofed by this SNL skit.
On the recent trip to SoCal, I had two small mishaps with Apple Maps but success otherwise. Once, Maps instructed me to get off the freeway then subsequently get back on the freeway. Minor but an inconvenience. Second, though I can’t really blame Maps, the app took me in the wrong direction due to local road construction. Other than that, Maps lead me around major SoCal attractions without incident.
What’s Going On Here?
Sorry for the mess, but I’m upgrading to the newest Thesis theme, version 2.0. This version is a major overhaul so things will continue to be messy for a while as I learn the new interface.
The Way of Wade
So it’s come to pass with Dwyane Wade officially leaving Nike and Team Jordan to join forces with Li-Ning, headquartered in China. His signature kicks are called the Way of Wade and will run somewhere’s in the $120 price range. Is DWade’s move a sign of things to come regarding kicks endorsements in the NBA? Quite possibly.
The first run of the Way of Wade is okay in my eyes. Nothing great but nothing hideous either. The “W” in the laces is gimmicky but not at a great expense. I just can’t shake the design vibes from the Zoom LeBron I, II, and III.
Starbucks Reserve Ka`u Now Available
For a limited time, Starbucks is selling Kona Ka`u coffee from its Reserve line of premium coffees. And these are limited with only 600 bags available for sale online.
Here’s how Starbucks describes this coffee’s tasting profile:
Tropical coconut with sweet caramelly and citrus notes.
Cost is above average at $25 for an 8-oz. bag. And um, Starbucks needs to figure out where Hawaii is on the global map (assuming that big dot indicates the coffee region).
