Added a new blog to my list of blogs I read. Go check out Stylish Van Mommy written by a classmate I’ve connected with on Facebook. Most of her posts have an unique view of reality (and memories from the past).
Week 5 of Dancing with the Stars was unusual with its new dances and special recap episode (which came in very handy). This week’s dances included West Coast Swing, Hustle, Salsa, and Jitterbug. Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson’s Hustle was highly entertaining, but Maurice Greene’s Salsa with Cheryl Burke was the breakthrough performance of the evening.
Toni Braxton is singing another sad love song, being the semi-surprising elimination at the halfway point of the competition. Yes, Cloris is still hanging in there.

Doing some catching up with old(er) material. Had dinner at Tango Contemporary Cafe before the family epidemic began. Some pics of the food.

Taking some time to recharge a bit after a long week. That unknown viral bug wiped out our entire family and caused a stay at the hospital for a bunch of fortunately negative tests. Then there was the fire at the adjacent Central Union preschool. Caused some commotion within the hospital, but the staff handled the “Code Red” very well. Couldn’t tell there was a fire except for the reek of smoke everywhere.
Had to miss the inaugural PodcampHawaii, but there’s just too many things going on now to break away. So it’s time to step back awhile, recharge, and do some brainless stuff like watch True Blood, Dancing with the Stars, and Yo Gabba Gabba.
And speaking of recharging, I need one of these replacement battery chargers.
This might be the first for me – seeing a shutdown Starbucks location.
Like McDonalds in its heyday, once a location opened, it’d be there forever. Not so anymore. This is the location inside the Hokua luxury condo planned for closure along with four other SBUX locations in Hawaii.
Not sure if Borders is gearing up for a rush of purchases as the Twilight movie approaches, or if they just are overstocked.

Can losing weight be this simple? With the Rodeo Pro, all you have to do is sit and “let the machine tone and strengthen your body!” How easy is that? The Rodeo Pro is designed for “those who are just plain lazy!”

I’m going ahead with ordering CableCards from Oceanic Cable for my Tivo. The eventual hope is that Oceanic provides tuning adapters to view the Switched Digital Video (SDV) channels that contain more HD content (at a reduced cost).
I’m hoping this $40K fine by the FCC for not providing SDV solutions will keep Oceanic straight.
Just testing out the new Amazon Site Stripe feature for affiliates. Makes it a lot easier to link to products available via Amazon and eliminates a lot of extra steps. I like it.

Called Oceanic Cable, Hawaii’s Time Warner cable company, and started the process to get CableCards for my Tivo. This is supposed to provide HDTV channels of local stations for $3.10 a month to rent the CableCard. Not much, but I wanted to try it out.
Even though Oceanic is migrating to Switched Digital Video (SDV), they don’t yet have the tuning adapters needed to view these HD-migrated channels. This Time Warner SDV page only leads me to the generic Oceanic web site without details of SDV. The customer rep I talked to didn’t have any other details either.
