Highlights from Unconferenz 2012
Here are some highlights from Unconferenz 2012 that I pieced together using Storify. Sorry, but you have to click on “Click to Continue” to see the full embedded story but before then, just a few pictures of the concluding capstone Ignite Honolulu 3 session.
Has Linsanity Gone Too Far? Introducing the Lin-katsu
Has all the hoopla around NY Knicks floor general, Jeremy Lin, gone too far? His surname poses so many possibilities to rev up the hype, but this one made me laugh. Â According to Tannya Joaquin, local plate lunch chain, L & L, has introduced the Lin-katsu. Â That’s chicken katsu with a special sauce that’s more spicy with mayo to reflect JLin’s Taiwanese heritage.
But if you want to sample the Linkatsu, it’s only available at the Keeaumoku, Airport, Kahala locations.
And look, dining on Lin-katsu wouldn’t be complete without wearing a Lin-katsu shirt!
An Acapella Anuhea Is Higher than the Clouds
Caught Anuhea performing a live on-air concert on 98.5 FM last week. Her acapella version of Higher than the Clouds was great! Take a (short) listen…
Wonder if this version is available somewhere?
Trenta Up!
So I didn’t realize that Starbucks still sold the super-sized Trenta drinks here in Hawaii. Â Not only that, but it seems that Starbucks is making this temporary offering a permanent menu item nationwide. Â And since we’re talking about the Trenta, I had to go out and get one.
Illy Is Back at Costco
Look what’s back at Costco, canned Illy coffee! It’s not the “Do Not Shake” Cappuccino but rather, the new issimo Mochaccino. Â And you’re allowed to shake the Mochaccinos gently.
And of course, since it’s at Costco, expect to buy in bulk.
From Topa Towers
The view from the Topa Towers is a nice one for Hipsters. For me, this was taken looking out from Oceanic Time Warner’s Downtown offices where a group of social media-ists met to brainstorm OcHui.
Here Come the Fish
I guess Hipsters like the oncoming of fish in a pond. Here’s a recent add to Hipster’s popular page from the “other” fish pond downstairs at Ala Moana.
Get Your VH07V
What does that say, VH07V?? Turn your head while you look at the shirt, and it’ll be readily clear.
Check out more “Volve” gear here and watch where you get get your VH07V.
Farewell HealthPass
I had heard about the closing or transformation of the HMSA HealthPass program, but it really hit home when I passed by the now-closed Aiea location.
Years of getting my fat measured, glucose analyzed, cholesterol calculated, and overall health assessed, gone just like that. Too bad since I was an annual user of this service. On the other hand, since I never did subscribe to any of their other premium services, I can understand how the business end wasn’t viable.
Farewell HealthPass!
