The Loco Is Effortless, the Boomstik Takes Practice

To vary my recent Draco play sessions, I switched up paddles and used a Bread and Butter Loco and a Selkirk Boomstik in different sessions. I had forgotten how effortless the Loco is. Drives and kitchen play were just reactions, not having to think and process each stroke.

The Boomstik, on the other hand, needs more practice time. The pop and power are still there as I hit so many shots way too long. Even short shots from the kitchen landed near the opposite baseline. Not sure why but I also felt like the Boomstik was twisting in my hand when returning shots. Never had that sensation before. The immediacy of returned hits with the Boomstik require precise placement. Once the ball hits the surface, it’s already on its way back so you don’t have time to shape your shot.
