Foursquare + Starbucks = No Mayor Respect :(

This is a harsh lesson about the virtual meeting the real. Starbucks and Foursquare have teamed up to offer virtual Mayors special offers at real Starbucks locations. But this is what it meant for me in real life.

The Starbucks location I went to wasn’t aware of this promotion, so I didn’t get my $1 Mayor discount for my Frappuccino. Is this promotion available in Hawaii even though the Foursquare app shows the discount? Or was the staff uninformed of the promotion? I wonder if there’s any recourse for getting my discount or a way of fixing this for the future?

How Does Starbucks Do Cyber Monday?

How does a coffee shop participate on a buying day affectionally known as Cyber Monday? By offering a BOGO purchased through your “cyber” device (aka your mobile phone). I’m not sure if every Rewards member automatically gets this promotion, but I’m guessing so.

    The promotion should be offered in Hawaii too! I think I saw a statistic one time that said that 87% of American have never heard of a location application like 4 Square or Gowalla. I guess the remaining 13% are not all employed as baristas.

      Thanks! Others in Hawaii have had better luck at other locations. Just bummed that the location I'm mayor of didn't know what I was talking about. They thought I wanted to pay for my SBUX drink using the Starbucks iPhone app. 🙁
