March Madness Kicks Analysis #2: Conference Sponsorships
By now you know how many Big Dance teams are wearing what brand of kicks and you also know how the 2007 bracket looks with respect to sneaks. How do the conference shoe sponsorships look? Well, they look like this:
For comparison, take a look at the conference shoe sponsorships for March Madness 2006.
Win an iPod and Help Out a Local Boy
Ryan over at #include <mylife.h> is about to graduate from UH but needs your help by filling out a short survey about your digital photo habits. The survey is real quick and took me like 5 minutes to do.
By filling out the survey, you not only help a local boy graduate, but you are entered to win an iPod Shuffle! And no, I didn’t offer up my faltering first generation Shuffle. I’m sure it’s a brand new Shuffle (heck I’d even take a gently used one for 5 minutes of my time).
Elements Hawaii at the Heritage Fair (Sorta)
In Catherine Toth’s The Daily Dish blog at the Honolulu Advertiser, she writes about visiting the annual Heritage Fair at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii. Like many of her fun posts, Catherine includes a bunch of pictures but look closely at the one of Meredith Kuba hugging her niece Dallas (don’t look too long otherwise you’re skebe).
Meredith is repping an Elements Hawaii tank top that’s not generally sold to the public. Nice unintentional plug for this great spa and salon.
Thanks to the Angry Asian Girl for the tip.

March Madness 2007 Kicks Bracket
Although the games have begun, and it’s too late to change your picks, here is a look at this year’s brackets along with their respective shoe sponsorships.
And just remember that teams wearing Nikes have won 85% of the championships since 2000.
- 2000 Michigan State (Reebok)
- 2001 Duke (Nike)
- 2002 Maryland (Nike)
- 2003 Syracuse (Nike)
- 2004 UConn (Nike)
- 2005 North Carolina (Nike)
- 2006 Florida (Nike)
In 2006, the Final Four consisted of three Nike teams (George Mason, LSU, and Florida) and one Adidas squad in UCLA.
March Madness 2007 Kicks Analysis
It’s time for the madness to begin, and like last year, I’ll be keeping an eye out on the kicks worn during the NCAA Tournament. Why check out the various kicks? Well, because in recent history, teams wearing Nike’s swoosh have been the champions 6 of the last 7 times. The kicks don’t lie!
So without further delay, I present the 2007 March Madness Kicks Analysis.
Shoe Sponsorship
Count of Sponsorship
Nike continues to dominate team sponsorships, upping their count to 44 teams this year compared to 42 teams in 2006. Adidas is a distant second with 15 sponsorships, followed by Reebok (Boston College and Niagara), and only Winthrop rocking New Balance. And1 failed to make a showing this year. I must admit that I missed two teams, Jackson State and Creighton, and can’t yet determine their sponsorships. After these teams play their first round games, there’ll be enough footage to correct these errors.
The Transformers Movie Rated R??
I used to watch the Transformers on TV while growing up and heard about an upcoming movie. Looks like this movie was a little too hot to handle getting an initial rating of R by the MPAA. The Transformers rated R?? What’s with that?
Too much violence? Do transforming robots bleed?
Nudity or some type of robo-porn? Are there even female/opposite gender Transformers? Or is it same sex kind of robo-lust?
Nope, the R rating was for being too intense. Yes, intense which has been described as “…sheer intensity. It’s aneurysm-inducing.”
Executive Producer, Steven Spielberg, appealed the rating and got a tame PG-13 instead. But, he had to cut out that scene where Megatron shows off his megatron.
World-Class Beauties
Because you guys always enjoy a little eye candy, the actresses deemed to be world-class beauties by MSN Entertainment are presented here. The short descriptions for the twenty-two women actually appears to be written by a woman.
2 Tablespoons Does Not Equal 2 Teaspoons
Whoa! My codeine cough syrup says take 2 teaspoons every 6 hours as needed. I misread the label and took 2 tablespoons instead. One tablespoon equals three teaspoons. So in effect, I took 6 teaspoons of the cough syrup in one gulp, and that’s the maximum dosage for an entire day.
Called the Poison Control Center as directed in the instructions for overdose. The technician said that’s a lot to take at once but is possible if you’re healthy and don’t have any medical problems. He told me to eat something since the medication is hard on the digestive system and the food would help.
Anyway I knocked out and woke up okay but with a massive headache. I think I’ll pass on taking this medication anymore.
