In a Funk
Been in a funk recently. Not sure exactly why.
Maybe the loss of talent to hopefully prosperous projects (or at least one with a decent gym) is part of the cause. Maybe I had too many run ins with people who take our motto to heart. Maybe the discussion about anal sacs threw me for a loop or my continuing struggle to getting thin is a factor. Or, it could just be doing work that really doesn’t matter is very demotivating.
Maybe I need a change in venue? I could start writing a blook…
Only Asian on Top Chef
Another entertaining episode of Top Chef played on Wednesday night. Last week, snack king Miguel was booted off the show for being Top Sous Chef and not Top Chef. In this week’s challenge, Wedding Bell Blues, the Chefs are asked to plan and cater a wedding for a gay couple. But the chefs don’t know that the ceremony is in 16 hours.
Scott and Scott, the engaged couple, wanted an Asian fusion theme for their meal at which point Lee Anne says the line of the episode, “As you can see, I’m the only Asian in the room.” Needless to say, Scott and Scott selected her menu for the ceremony. That’s when the Chefs were unfairly told that the wedding was in 16 hours.
I say unfair since the judges placed the Chefs in an unwinnable situation. “Make their dreams come true,” “most important day of their lives,” “translate those dreams into edible reality,” says the judges. So the Chefs go all out with fanatastic ideas. Then get told they only have 16 hours until the ceremony then get critized for picking such a difficult menu to prepare. I think things would have been different if the Chefs knew they only had 16 hours to prepare. Menus and ideas would have been scaled back to meet realitic timeframes.
In the end, it was sommelier Stephen who didn’t pull his weight in the kitchen that had to pack up his knives and go.

Continuing Concerns for the Tabasco Man
Maybe it’s time for an intervention, but I’m even more concerned about the well being of the Tabasco Man. His hives are still afflicting him which forces him to take some potent medications like steroids. These ‘roids are definitely affecting the Tabasco Man’s physique. The flu recently got him, and he needed Tamiflu to fend off the effects. On the work front, his latest project isn’t the most fulfilling which is probably causing increased stress levels.
The final straw is this latest episode caused by too much steroid use. The addictive nature of steroids causes manic behaviors and has completely transformed his body. Just look at the ravaged Tabasco Man praying for help.
Please, please, help the Tabasco Man!
Pimped Out Kicks
I don’t know how I missed these, but earlier in the year, Dada announced their Code M line of kicks. These bad boys have an MP3 player integrated into the shoe. Plays about 100 songs with a six-hour battery life and USB for recharging. There’s Bluetooth for wireless headsets or built-in speakers when you need to rock your personal theme song while walking down the street.
Will go for around $200. No thanks, I’ll pass. These kicks crossed the fine line between crazy and crazy. Self respecting shoeheads will stay far, far away.
Pimp My Ride with an iPod
In the early seasons of MTV’s Pimp My Ride, flat panel displays, XBoxes, and PS2s were the hot additions to any pimped out car. Now, the accessory of choice is the iPod.
In the upcoming season of Pimp My Ride, one third of the projects will feature an iPod. It’s about time, Xzibit!
Man, they even pimped out a Celica with a hot rodded 2-terrabyte iPod. You just been pimped!
What’s a Wiki?
Had an (long) meeting at work today about a bunch of stuff. Some highs, but mostly lows. What was funny was the topic of wikis came up for use to build a collaborative web site. Only thing is, the IT people in the meeting didn’t have a clue on what a wiki is or how it worked. Yet, since it was recommended as a possible solution set, everyone’s sold that the magical “wiki” will fix things. In all fairness, I think a wiki for work does have its place.
I guess I found it very disheartening to hear the IT decision makers say “what’s a wiki?”
Golfing Kicks for Michelle Wie?
I just got an email update from Kicks Hawaii with these new Nike SB Dunk Low Premium “Golf.”
Probably, a little too aggressive and radical for endorsement by Michelle Wie, but then again, she could be a trend setter.

Berkeley on iTunes U
The University of California, Berkeley, now has “Berkeley on iTunes U,” a free service that allows you to download course lectures available both on and off campus through Apple Computer’s iTunes Music Store. Pretty cool. Now while you’re driving to school or running on the treadmill, you can be listening to your class lecture. You don’t even have to be a student to download this stuff.
Man, this is the perfect excuse for cutting class.
Free NBA Video Podcasts
I think this is a new edition to the iTunes Music Store, NBA video podcasts. Even better, these recaps and highlights are all free! You can subscribe to these free podcasts, and iTunes will automatically download new content as they become available.
Go relive Lebron’s triple double, the resurgence of the Clippers, and the domination of the Pistons and Spurs.
Deal or No Deal Going Emotional
After catching a few episodes of Deal or No Deal, I noticed the show added a twist of emotional moments. One show flew in the grandmother of the contestant. I saw a good luck rabbit on another show, and most recently, I saw a clown propose to his girlfriend.
Are these moments supposed to make a stronger emotional tie with the viewers? Or is it a ploy to add pressure to your Deal or No Deal decisions? Probably a little bit of both. It does lengthen the playing time for contestants though. Maybe the Banker’s Blog offers some insight?

Playoff Kicks [Revisited]
On further analysis of the NBA playoff kicks, maybe Dwyane Wade faked his leg cramps at the end of the game? I mean, just check out the pics. You see his new kicks prominently displayed as DWade grabs his leg. Good marketing job Converse!

And Ben Gordon’s shoes? Yep, looks like a custom pair of Huarache 64. Shaq don’t seem impressed as he gives Gordon a big porkchop to the noggin.
Man, that’s got to hurt!
