Seahorses at Sea Life
Took a quick spin through Sea Life which neighbors Legoland. Pretty small compared to Seaworld, but admission was only $10 (upgraded Legoland ticket).
Good place for young kids with enough to see at a slower pace. Reminds me of Sea Life Park in Hawaii.
Nothing too exotic in their aquatic collection, but seahorses are always fun.

The Price of Seasonal Weather
55 degree weather, 60% chance of rain. 30 minutes of driving, $12 for parking. $22 for an umbrella, $8 for a Shamu rain poncho. Two hours of rain followed by hours of sunshine looking at penguins, sharks, mantas, flamingos, Elmo, fish, polar bears, belluga whales, sea lions, a walrus, and a night show with killer whales.
The price of seasonal weather.
Socal Severe Weather Warnings
Uh oh, according to The Weather Channel iApp, there are two severe weather warnings for Socal on Sunday. High winds, cold weather, and possibility of snow (at high altitude)!
In iPhone and the Cloud I Trust
For an upcoming trip, I won’t have access to a computer which is a rarity. Instead, I’ll be relying on my iPhone with data stored in “the cloud.” The AT&T 3G network will be my access to the cloud.
I’ll be using the iPhone’s GPS along with Google Maps for directions. I hope to be blogging while on travel and will be using the WordPress iPhone app for that. I might also integrate my Twitter account with Pulpconnection via Twitter Tools so any tweet becomes a blog entry. Unfortunately, blogged pictures will be taken with the iPhone camera which ain’t the greatest. Better pictures will have to wait until later.
I haven’t completely tricked out my iPhone with geo/location or travel apps, but I have added some useful ones like this Disney park guide. Anyone have any recommendations for useful travel iPhone apps?
Observation: Twitter > RSS
Now that I’ve been using Twitter for some time, I’ve noticed a change in the way I learn about new things on the web. I’m a believer and proponent of RSS feeds for some time, calling this technology a “game changer.”
But now, I find myself using my RSS reader less and less. I still do check my feeds for any updates, but it’s second behind Twitter. I’m more apt to follow links published by Twitter users even though the actual URL is obscured by a URL shortener like tinyurl. Why is that?
Maybe it’s because I share similar interests with those that I follow on Twitter so any links they provide are more to my liking? Also, I think Twitter users serve as a kindof filter for noise on the Net so that anything that they promote is more worthwhile than an RSS feed of a blog post with only a catchy title.
I’m not saying that I’ll abadon my RSS feeds anytime soon, but Twitter has supplanted RSS as my first source of interesting information.
Kokua at Windward Mall
Had a good Friday at Windward Mall with two instances of kokua. Thanks to the Starbucks barrista for the ice cold half and half and preshaking my drink.
And thanks (surprisingly) to Champs Sports for letting me get my Bright Cactus even cheaper!
