Freeze Frame Flash Mob at Ala Moana
On Saturday, February 16, 2013, Ala Moana Center celebrated Chinese New Year by unleashing dancing lions to traverse the mall. As the many drumbeats of the performances echoed throughout, the once home of Center Court held a silent show. A freeze frame flash mob quietly assembled frozen in poses for a few minutes.

It took a little while for shoppers to understand this was a show, not just people standing in the way of bustling shoppers. This performance did catch the Ala Moana security guards off guard. Do they remove these silent models? Is this a sanctioned show? I’m guessing this flash mob is this event organized on Facebook.
A few more frozen pics.
I was tempted to tap one of them on the shoulder to ask for directions or something. 😉
That’s Some Big Koi
Over the weekend, the Waikiki Aquarium hosted the 5th annual Aloha Koi Society Koi Show. I’ve never been to a koi show and didn’t know what to expect, but I did some of the biggest koi in my life.
I thought the fish in the Ala Moana koi ponds were big, but some at the show dwarfed those at Ala Moana! Although it’s hard to tell the relative size of the fish, here are some pictures.

I just want to know how you transport these monstrous sized koi?!?
Awed by the Grand Taxonomy of Rap Names
I am simply in awe over this (info)graphic depicting the taxonomy of rapper’s names. All I can say is, “Word.”

Loving Leonard Cooper
Leonard Cooper of the ‘fro and olive long sleeve absolutely rocked Jeopardy’s Teen Tournament. Never showing fear, Leonard let his guts, intellect, and wit lead him to victory.
Read this narrative for a great perspective of Leonard’s olive long sleeve, but the video itself is priceless.
Wonder if the olive long sleeve will become a popular hit now?
Nostalgia: Dr. J and Larry Bird Go One on One

Those spinning in the air, backwards shots by Bird or the swooping to the rim dunks by the Doctor? It was fun to see how far you could push this game. Is there a version for iOS?

Are Your Systems Bieber-proof?
How can a shirtless Justin Bieber test the performance and scalability of your servers? Witness a shirtless Biebs engaging his fans online during the Grammys. He tweets his intent to talk live on Livestream. Magnified by retweets from Beliebers, the traffic to Livestream crushes their service.
JB then jumps to Ustream with the same disappointing results. Dejected, Justin has to post stuff in a non-live venue to appease his fans. So the best stress test for your systems is actually this.

Though I don’t think any amount of scalability can withstand the onslaught of traffic to see Justin Bieber’s next tattoo.
Nerds Are Hot!
After watching GoDaddy’s #thekiss commercial during Super Bowl XLVII, nerdiness has taken a different light. Jesse Heiman, who played the nerd to Bar Refaeli’s beauty, is getting more attention from the ladies and even more action from Jay Leno.

Much thanks to @abaggy.
When Kinky Rolls Up to You…
So what do you do when Kinky rolls up next to you? I brought out my iPhone and made a panorama picture of the kinkiness in its full glory.

A “Rari-tree”
If you’ve driven on the Pali Highway in the new year, you’ve passed by a very rare “tree.” This rari-tree (get it, rarity and tree?) is at the entry way to the Nuuanu Reservoir. Watch this video and see if you can spot the “tree.”
Rare Tree from Gee Why on Vimeo.
Regardless of its camouflage, mobile customers must appreciate this abomination of nature.
New Ice Bag
My vintage blue ice bag finally gave way, springing a small leak somewhere. You know that generic blue ice bag, probably every household has one from who knows when. So I got a new one and found many options on Amazon. They all work the same, but now they have some color and personality to them.
