Anyone have recommendations for a good vacuum cleaner? In the past, we’ve had Hoover upright vacuums sold at Costco. Pretty good overall but had some recent problems. We got one last year but then the power switch stopped working right. It could go on easily but wouldn’t always turn off.

We bought a new Hoover at Costco this past week but out of the box, it’s broke. The rotating brush that picks up stuff from the carpet doesn’t roll. Other than getting a replacement Hoover, does anyone have any vacuum cleaner recommendations?

I kinda like the all-in-one package of an upright, but it don’t really matter.

Saturday Night Live has has some funny skits over the years, and some of these pushed the limits of double entendres. I remember seeing the Colonel Angus skit years ago but never did see the cork soakers skit. If you missed these, here they are.

Colonel Angus.

Okay, forget about eating way too much junk food. Plain and simple, I eat too much. Just look at this birthday dinner at Orchids at Halekulani.

Oh so good!

Boo hoo, the newly released iPod families are not included in Apple’s on-going Back to School promotion. The older iPods still qualify though so you can get an older skinny Nano for free with a new Mac purchase.

Wonder what happens if the skinny Nanos are out of stock? Too bad for you?

After keeping track of all the iPod changes that happened this morning during Apple’s Special Event, I had to go to a work meeting concerning “new technology” being rolled out. What a mistake! So underwhelming, boring, and no wow factor.

Users need to go to a week’s worth of training to make the technology work?! The technology is only available to select users?! You need to install three pieces of software on your machine to participate?! Where’s the Starbucks partnership? Where’s the phat? Where’s the boom?

Who am I kidding? This is work after all…

Good ole Stevo. At the Apple Special Event going on right now, ALL iPods have been refreshed. The Shuffle, the fat Nano (iPhat), the iPod Classic, and now the iPod Touch. The Touch looks like an iPhone but just without the phone. The Touch has Wi-fi and the Safari web browser. This is THE video iPod. 16 GB for $400, 8 GB for $300.

Going into “One More Thing…” mode. iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. The Touch now really does kick butt. The iPhone gets an update to enable the iTunes Wi-Fi Store.

Partnership with Starbucks?! Apple’s changing the game (again). The Touch (and iPhone) can tell you what music is playing at Starbucks as you near a store, and if you like it, you can purchase the music. More impressive is the fact that Starbucks opens 7 new stores a day.

iPhone reduced price! $200 cheaper! 8 GB model is now $400. The 4 GB model is no longer available.

Oh yeah, ringtones for your iPhone but at an additional $1?!?

Looks like the Apple Stores will be busy at Christmas time again.

Angry Asian Girl wanted Britney Spears to give us more, and Britney responded!

You might have heard that Apple and NBC have gone their separate ways selling NBC televisions shows in the iTunes Store. Beginning September, the iTunes Store will no longer offer new episodes of shows shown on NBC and its affiliates. This includes SciFi offerings such as Battlestar Galactica.

Word is NBC wanted to raise prices from $2 to $5 per episode, and Apple said no thanks even though NBC programming accounts for 30% of iTunes shows sold. Apple then went on the offensive with its press release announcing this split, calling out NBC’s money grubbing move.

Who do you think is the 800-pound gorilla in this industry?

Took awhile, but Toyota has finally released an iPod integration kit for its vehicles. With this kit, you can dock your iPod then control it via the stock Toyota stereo.

Cost is about $300 and installs in the glove box. Works for Lexus too!

It’s official. No, not the discovery that Britney has cellulite issues. People probably already know that seeing her other (many) reduced-clothing pictures.

Her new, anticipated (by some) single is out. Check it out here. Song is not bad, but she’s still messed up.

Remember that movie The Seventh Sign starring Demi Moore? Unusual world events were occurring, possibly signifying the upcoming Apocalypse. Now I forget the specific signs the movie portrayed, but you have to wonder about some of the “strange” things that have been happening in and around Hawaii recently.

Natural force, Hurricane Flossie, came close to pummeling Hawaii. Our seas are now “boiling” with irate Kauai residents blocking the passage of the SuperFerry. And did you catch that lunar eclipse last night? How eerie!

Are these signs of bad things to come? Any other signs you’ve seen?
