iPhone Coming Next Monday?
The newest rumor is that the iPhone will be announced (though maybe not released) this coming Monday, December 18.
Probably bogus, but you never know. Be sure to visit www.apple.com on Monday just in case.
Google Video Messed Up AGAIN!
Not sure what’s going on with my Honolulu Marathon 2006 video coverage uploaded on Google Video. Twice now, the video uploaded to Google Video has been shortened.
After initially uploading the movie, everything is fine, but about one day later, the video is substantially shorter. Still clips zoom on by but clips with effects (text or transitions) are okay. The video is supposed to be 3:08 long, but the Google Video version is now 2:28.
I uploaded the same video to YouTube and so far so good. I like the video quality of Google Video over YouTube but changing the length of the video is NOT good.
MacHeist Software Bundle Update
Just checked on the sales of the MacHeist software bundle and the total raised for charity is around $47.5K At $50K raised, NewsFire becomes part of the bundle.
Three days and 20 hours left to hit $50K. I doubt sales will hit $100K in order to unlock TextMate, but I ain’t too excited about that. Always wanted to try out NewsFire to see how it compares to NetNewsWire.
NewsFire describes itself as the “Angelina Jolie of applications” – hand-crafted from sheet metal and plastic gel, NewsFire exudes sex appeal.

Insulted or Sense of Humor?
Don’t know if I was insulted or just part of a joke, but after purchasing the awesome MacHeist bundle, I got some of the software licenses immediately via email. Others like FotoMagico and Delicious Library I got a day later in email.
But weirdly, my supplied Delicious Library license has the words “loser” and “sinnable” in the code. A subliminal message or just a coincidence? Wonder if the Delicious Monster crew doesn’t really like this dirt cheap bundling of their software or if they’re sending me a message since I tried their demo a long time ago but never bought the app.
Just call me sinnable loser.
Holiday Gift Guide: Gift Cards from Costco
For whatever reason, Costco is selling gift cards for other stores at a discounted price you’d expect from the big box retailer. They have Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf $50 gift cards that they sell for $40. Supposedly iTunes Gift Cards which were mentioned previously are also discounted at Costco, going for $45 for a $50 card.
Gift cards may not be sexy or exciting, but they sure do come in handy.

Britney Apologizes
On her official web site, Britney Spears apologized for her “new found freedom” with her friends Paris and Lindsay.
It’s also been 2 years since I’ve even celebrated my birthday. Every move I make at this point has been magnified more than I expected, and I probably did take my new found freedom a little too far. Anyway, thank God for Victoria’s Secrets’ new underwear line! I look forward to a new year, new music and a new me.

Holiday Fun: Elf Yourself
What would you look like as one of Santa’s elves? Try out this Office Max Elf Yourself service to see. Upload a picture of yourself (or of anyone) and watch the Elfamorphosis (and funny elf dance).
What would Gee Why look like as an elf? One can only imagine.
What’s with this unhappy elf? Man, I think this elf needs apologies during a Challenge Day or something?
Mac Media Capsule? iTV+ TiVo?
A little early for Apple rumors with the MacWorld Expo coming up in January, but oh well… Apple may be working with TiVo to include TiVo functionality in the future iTV product. The iTV name is not set and the product may be renamed as the Mac Media Capsule.
Inclusion of a PVR function would make buying the iTV Mac Media Capsule a no brainer at $300. Access all my content (pictures, movies, television shows, videos) stored on my computer AND record TV shows? This is the device we’ve been waiting for.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest
December 5 marked the release for the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. I liked the first Pirates movie so I figured why not get this one? And since the iTunes Store had it for pre-order, why not try something new at the same time.
Last night (December 4), I got an email notifying me that my Pirates pre-order was available for downloading.
Following the provided link, the 1.7 GB download started and in less than 2 hours the download was complete (along with my pre-order of Gwen Stefani’s The Sweet Escape).
