Integrating Pinterest with Your Blog?

That sounds like a great idea! Pinterest is hot right now, and I admit that I don’t quite grasp the hype. Oh, I am a Pinterest user but primarily to see what’s it all about. What I do know is that things I pin like kicks and Draw Something “artwork” generate activity without having to do much else. Wouldn’t it be great to perhaps direct this activity to your own blog? That’s what WP Pinner aims to do. Watch this one-minute video for some details.

Picture of the Day: Tabbed Browsing

I absolutely love the tabbed browsing feature of modern day web browsers. Was it FireFox that first introduced this? Then Safari and Chrome? Somewhere along the way, even Internet Explorer got the tab treatment. As soon as I tried tabs, I was hooked. From my main window, each hyperlink that looked interesting I opened in a new tab. Simple but very effective from having to keep going back in a web browser.

Anyways back to the picture of the day. At work, I found this print out of Internet Explorer welcoming users to tabbed browsing and explaining what tabs can do. Yes, you HAVE to print this page to learn about tabbed browsing.

A Smush.it and CloudFlare Workaround

I recently started using the WordPress plugin Smush.it which optimizes images for better user performance. Instead of slowing down page downloads with large-but-resized images, Smush.it trims the fat so you download less. For some reason, Smush.it intermittently conflicts with CloudFlare, often times giving errors or timing out.

If you’re getting this behavior, be sure to check out this thread of possible fixes. There are some workarounds listed, and I’m going through them now.

A Terrible High Five?

If you’re going to give your teammate an encouraging high five, you best do it right. Otherwise, you could be called for a technical foul. That’s the only reason I can think of for this tech called on Reggie Evans of the Clippers. His high five with Blake Griffin wasn’t terrible, it wasn’t great, and it wasn’t really needed either. But neither was that technical.

The uncanny X-Man Wolverine as a LEGO minifigure? That’s a must have.  Magneto and Deadpool too?

That’s the Wolverine Chopper Down set (oh yeah, there a helicopter as part of the set). For what you get, this small set is well worth it!

TJ Maxx Pearl City Has Lots of Thongs

The second TJ Maxx on Oahu opened today in the Pearl City area, and I went looking for kicks/sneakers/shoes.  Maybe a discounted Air Jordan, an older Air Max, or a not-so-popular Hyperfuse could be found at the grand opening right? Nope, no men’s shoes anywhere, just lots and lots of thongs.  Dressy ones, leather ones, casual ones, waterproof ones. So many slippers, but no shoes of any type.  There are women’s shoes but none for the guys. And yes, there are footwear thongs for women and kids.

I didn’t catch the festivities before the store opened for business at 8am. I got there right at 8 and walked right on in, getting a free TJ Maxx bag.

The store seems smaller on the inside. It looks bigger on the outside. I took a quick stroll through the store before the crowds and lines started to build.  As I was leaving, more and more people were entering.

Sorry, I didn’t take very many pictures since I wanted to get in and out fast. I did capture this panorama nearby the checkout line.
