Can You Decipher this Starbucks Secret?
Do you understand these Starbucks markings to decipher this secret drink?

Over on the popular ProBlogger blog, there’s a post asking readers what their favorite (free) WordPress plugins are. It’s interesting to see what are the popular ones. Some new ones for me include Broken Link Checker and CommentLuv.
Sadly Broken Link Checker isn’t cooperating with my install of WP 3.0.1, giving me database errors. I’ve seen CommentLuv as an add-on to Intense Debate, but since I’ve moved to Disqus, CommentLuv no longer seems like an option.
What would be my top 5 free WordPress plugins?
I consider Akismet and Google XML Sitemaps as core essential plugins, and therefore, exempt from this list. 😉
Starting tomorrow, Saturday, August 28, 2010, you can secretly order a Starbucks favorite, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. This seasonal drink finds it way back to the baristas, but only if you ask for it since it won’t show up on the menu. The Pumpkin Spice is on Starbucks’ secret menu.
Never mind that they blogged about this drink and sent email to a mass distribution list. 😉
After running with my Nike+ system, I heard a congratulatory message saying I burned a tremendous amount of calories. What I would have preferred is something like this:
“Congratulations! You burned a tremendous amount of calories. Now go celebrate with an ice cream cone.”
Or maybe from a marketing and partnership standpoint:
“Congratulations! You burned a tremendous amount of calories. Now go celebrate with a treat from one of our many partners.” Then from the Nike+ web site, I could browse various vendors and print out a discount coupon or something.
Or maybe even:
“Congratulations! You burned a tremendous amount of calories. Now go check in with one of our partners and celebrate with a treat.” If Nike were partnered with a geolocation service like Foursquare or Gowalla, a check-in at a Nike+ partner location would give you immediate specials at that location.
Just a thought anyways but for now, I’ll take the virtual pat on the back.
Not sure what to think about the Nike Air Max Modular 95 hybrid. At first glance, it looks plain but then a clean, classic look starts emerging. That back/heel view is killer though, and the colorway is, of course, great.
The new Canon EOS 60D DSLR camera is releasing soon, and you can pre-order on Amazon. The 60D is an upgrade to the T2i which is the step up from the T1i and incorporates a swiveling (articulating) screen. Also the 60D improves on video and “button-ology.”
Here’s an early review at dpreview.com.
Anyone interested in buying a 2011 Entertainment Book? We gotta sell a few for a fundraiser. Here’s a list of participating Hawaii vendors.
As usual, we can “swap” fundraiser items. You buy this, I’ll buy from your fundraiser. Sound good?
An okay vid showcasing the Java programming language. The best part is all the vintage Macs used in the video.
While the official list of Dancing with the Star contestants (and pros) isn’t announced until next week, there are a bunch of rumors going around. So far I’m not digging the lineup. David Hasselhoff extends the Baywatch connection, and he might be entertaining to watch. Michael Bolton. Former NFL QB, Kurt Warner. Singer Brandy. Michael Sorrentino from Jersey Shore (which I’ve never watched). Audrina Patridge from The Hills (another show I haven’t seen).
From these alone, I’d have to root for the Hoff just because…
Katy Perry’s new release is now available, and there are a few solid tunes in this 16-track deluxe edition.
Available on iTunes and Amazon though Amazon has a better deal unless you can use the complete your album feature on iTunes. And you also get $4 credit on Amazon Video on Demand!
Though the new Hawaii Five-O reboot has a smaller cast than LOST, I’m still not familiar with the characters or actors. But still, when this guy walked into the Counter in Kahala Saturday evening, I immediately though of Scott Caan who plays Danno. I don’t know why, and I don’t think this was him since supposedly he was on the mainland getting medical treatment for a knee injury.
But then again, Wayne Harada’s recent entertainment column said Scott was in Hawaii and back on the Five-O set, and the guy did walk kinda gimpily so maybe I bumped into “Book’em.” Either way, Happy Birthday Mr. Caan! (Is that the back of your head?)
And since I was at the Counter, I have to include a pic of my yummy burger.
