Twilight Well Stocked
Not sure if Borders is gearing up for a rush of purchases as the Twilight movie approaches, or if they just are overstocked.

I’m going ahead with ordering CableCards from Oceanic Cable for my Tivo. The eventual hope is that Oceanic provides tuning adapters to view the Switched Digital Video (SDV) channels that contain more HD content (at a reduced cost).
I’m hoping this $40K fine by the FCC for not providing SDV solutions will keep Oceanic straight.
Just testing out the new Amazon Site Stripe feature for affiliates. Makes it a lot easier to link to products available via Amazon and eliminates a lot of extra steps. I like it.
Here’s the new Twilight illustrated movie companion easily added using the Site Stripe.

Called Oceanic Cable, Hawaii’s Time Warner cable company, and started the process to get CableCards for my Tivo. This is supposed to provide HDTV channels of local stations for $3.10 a month to rent the CableCard. Not much, but I wanted to try it out.
Even though Oceanic is migrating to Switched Digital Video (SDV), they don’t yet have the tuning adapters needed to view these HD-migrated channels. This Time Warner SDV page only leads me to the generic Oceanic web site without details of SDV. The customer rep I talked to didn’t have any other details either.
Now this is a surprise. UH will be hosting a new college basketball tournament starting in 2009. The Diamond Head Classic will feature 8 teams (hopefully big name ones) playing right around Christmas. This Classic won’t replace the current Rainbow Classic so I guess the Rainbow Classic is moving its time slot.
Too bad the Aloha Stadium couldn’t transform into a basketball venue. If the Warrirors football team plays on Christmas day, the men’s basketball squad could follow. But then again, the level of drunkenness might be too much come tip off time.
And let’s hope the seats purchasing is changed up for the new DH Classic. You ever been to a men’s basketball game? Only seats you can get are way up top or behind the baselines. Yet there’s a bunch of empty seats down below. These are owned by long time patrons who don’t go to the games anymore. Sure easy money, but why not give new fans a chance to root for the Bows by letting them scoop up these great seats and fill the stands with some raucous noise? Would look great on television, better than the older generation stoically sitting there.
Hope my corporate sponsor continues their generous ways to the Hawaii athletic system and purchases seats for the Diamond Head Classic. 😉

After Week 4 of Dancing with the Stars, the competition is all Brooke, Lance, and Cloris(?!). Even after a too erotic samba (I guess there’s such a thing), Brooke Burke is still the leading lady, and Lance Bass is the only guy that can catch her. Even though Cloris Leachman won’t win the mirror ball trophy based on her dancing technique, she is disrupting the votes with her form of painful entertainment.
Everyone else (so far) is just carnage for the Brooke/Lance finals showdown. Rocco DiSpirito and Susan Lucci are soon to go. Unless Maurice Greene can really put things together, he’s not far behind. Who knows, Cloris may outlast these three.
Then there’s Toni Braxton, Cody Linley, and Warren Sapp. All three have potential but not enough to beat the top tier. Toni moves well, but I just don’t see her at the finish line. Cody has evaporated the advantage of Julianne Hough. The youngest professional dancer, Julianne had been paired with older dudes in past seasons, creating a fantasy of old guy and young hottie. Not so with Cody who’s even younger than Julianne. Now, this age thing is just icky. I love to watch the joy of Warren Sapp, and it’s amazing to see this huge guy who can’t easily fit through a doorway but can walk on his hands. But is he dancing elite?
My favorite performances from this week are: Brooke Burke’s erotic samba, Cloris doing the tango, and the goth Lacey and Lance.
Brooke Burke and Derek Hough’s too erotic samba with Brooke’s wardrobe adjustment at the 1:48 mark.
Cloris Leachman doing the tango that only she can do.
Lance and Lacey go gothic to Disturbia.

Jamba Juice, the Hawaii flavor, has its own blog starring Jamba Girl. This blog looks to be officially endorsed by Jamba Hawaii and includes $1 coupons for Jamba Girl’s Pick of the Week (this week is Orange Dream Machine).
Some tips to Jamba Girl – how about hyperlinking URLs in posts? Categorizing posts would help outline the content we can expect on the blog. Make longer posts more obvious with a “Read more…” link or something like that. Right now, the non-linked ellipse dots aren’t that noticeable. And lastlyy keep the the posts coming!
Go check out the Jamba Hawaii Blog.
I didn’t know Hawaii serves up gourmet hot dogs, but they’re there at Hank’s Haute Dogs in downtown Honolulu. Located on Coral Street, this little location has some great hot dogs that even the wiener connoisseur will enjoy.
I had the Andouille, onion rings, and pineapple ice drink. Yums for the tums! If I go there again on a Sunday, I’ll have to try the special Kobe hot dog created by Chef Dale from Top Chef Season 3. This dog is made with Kobe beef and not named after Kobe Bryant.
Like in the first part, smoke screen away!
Why I have a strange infatuation with smoking cars I don’t know.
Finally finished the four-book Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer. A great series about the supernatural meeting the human world with the telling of Edward and Bella’s story.
Up next is the movie to see if it accurately captures the Twilight essence.
And oh yeah, the set of books would make a good Christmas gift!

Remember back in 2006, there was a rumor of an AirMac? Not the ultrathin notebook now known as the MacBook Air, but the large HD television set that wirelessly connects for its content.
This device’s existence is rumored once again for Tuesday’s Apple Special Event. Although the emphasis of the event will obviously be on notebooks and laptops, you just never know, especially with the AppleTV needing a rebirth.
This would be a bummer for me after just getting a new television set, but I’m still hoping for the AirMac and a revamped AppleTV.
