A real quick giveaway of free music on iTunes. I got three iTunes song credits left from last year’s Starbucks promotion. These credits expire the end of February, and I’m giving them away.

His son, who sold out pops for “a lot of money” is in trouble with the law for multiple violations of his parole.
But I guess those “I love you guys” signs meant something since the Bounty Hunter is returning.

How did your hunt for the Air Jordan XX3 go? Did you manage to get a pair of the black/stealth general releases? If you went to the Ala Moana Footlocker you had to get there early. According to one of the workers, there was a line, but they still had one size 8 left as of lunchtime on Saturday.
Otherwise, there was no trace of the AJ XX3 in the store except for these…

The general release of the Air Jordan XX3 is set for today, February 23, but how hard will it be to find a pair in Hawaii? I called Niketown Honolulu on Friday and while no line had yet formed, the employee said she wouldn’t be surprised if there were a line come Saturday morning. Niketown didn’t reveal how many pairs of XX3s they had, but they were promoting the XX3 release at their 10th Anniversary celebration on Friday night.
Footlocker Ala Moana is probably the place that will get the second most Jordans. They open at 9:30. Footlocker Pearlridge Downtown said they only have 6 pairs to sell (I’m guessing 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5?). Footlocker Pearlridge Uptown said they didn’t have any, but if the smaller Downtown location got some, the bigger Uptown has got to have some XX3. Don’t even try the Windward Mall Footlocker, they don’t got none. Didn’t check with the newer Waikiki location.
Kicks Hawaii supposedly ain’t getting any AJ XX3, and I didn’t even bother with any Champs locations since I still think their business practices are a bit shady. Didn’t check any of the military locations like the NEX but oftentimes, they surprise you with their selection.
If you can’t find any XX3 locally, they can still be found online. Footlocker.com has them if you’re willing to pay $15+ for shipping. Niketown.com is now advertising the latest Jordans with free ground shipping (which I don’t think Hawaii qualifies for, but you never know).

Just read about Grand Central, a phone system on the web, that Google bought awhile back. As a Blogger user, you can sign up for GC account while they’re still in beta status. I don’t quite fully get it yet, but with GC, you can sign up for a free telephone number (though Hawaii 808 numbers are not supported). With this new number, you can forward it to any number of other phones (home, cell, etc.) and even get your message via email.
Grand Central has a lot of features that I have to get my head around. You can even call people via blogs. Like this…
For now, I have all these web calls going straight to voice mail, uh I mean email. This is getting confusing…

Even with over 300 new features touted in Mac OS X 10.5, aka Leopard, I bought it for one reason and one reason only, Time Machine. The automated backup feature of Leopard makes backing up your data unbelievably easy. Connect an external drive, turn on Time Machine, and that’s it.
But this peace of mind comes with a steep price that I continue to pay. For Time Machine to work, you need an external drive of at least the same size as your internal. So if you have a 250 GB internal drive, you need an external drive 250 GB or more. Got a 500 GB internal then you need 500+ GB free on an external drive.
While external drive costs have come down, the big drives are still costly. And so while I rely on Time Machine for worry free backups, I’ve also spent a bundle on external drives. My home iMac has a Western Digital My Book. My work MacBook Pro uses an older but big enough Maxtor drive, but what about when I’m out of the office? I need to ensure my valuable work is retained so of course, I need a portable external drive when I’m away from the office.
So for those three drives for Time Machine backups, the Leopard upgrade must have totaled an additional $400. Dang, Time Machine is costly!
Linkin Park rocked at the New York City SoHo Apple Store last night as Apple continues to host famous bands at its retail locations. My only question is when does Hawaii get an Apple Concert?
The Ala Moana location can easily host a concert either right in front of the Apple Store or upstairs at the Ho’okipa Terrace. Kahala Mall could host one with the stage area right outside that Apple location, but it’s kinda small. How about kicking off the opening of Apple’s Waikiki location with a kickin’ concert that the tourists can get in to?
Okay, sorry, I’m back finishing up looking at Season Six of Dancing with the Stars. Did you know the average age of this year’s dancers is 40? The youngest is Mario and the oldest is Priscilla Presley at 63. I guess there’ll be no more Sabrina Bryan fickle followers this year.
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez. Fabian is the only new professional dancer added to the show. Not only that but he’s paired with Matlin who lost her hearing as an infant. Interesting matchup, new guy with physically challenged(?) dancer. But Fabian is an American Rhythm Champion so maybe he can transfer some of his natural rhythm to Matlin. Due to inspiration and curiosity, the couple should make the mid-rounds.
Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel. As I mentioned earlier, Priscilla Presley is the oldest dancer of Season Six at 63. Though she’s looking more filthy than MILF-y, she has a mysterious appeal. While I’m sure Louis is a cool guy, I never considered him championship caliber. Can the Presley mystique and the never ending support of Elvis fans carry the duo?
Monica Seles and Jonathan Roberts. A former tennis star with a polished dancer who guided Marie Osmond to a third place finish. Monica had better grunt a few times during their dance routines. Gotta represent where you came from! I also think they should have one costume that looks like tennis outfits. Or maybe she can be a figurative tennis racket and a yellow clad Jonathan can be the ball? This is a tough call since Monica’s got to have some nimble feet running around the court.
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska. Former professional athletes have been a hit or miss on DWTS. Jerry Rice did well and Emmitt Smith was a champion, but boxer Evander Holyfield and baller Clyde Drexler just didn’t have it. How will NFL Defensive End Jason Taylor do? Size of the athletes is always problem, and at 6-6, 255, Jason is a big dude. But the strategy with Edyta is to rely on her hotness dancing ability to give the celebrity dancer a chance to develop. Just ask Edyta’s partner Cameron Mathison who made it to the top five in Season Five.
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. Marissa is a Broadway star and cancer survivor. She also got junk in the trunk. Can she crossover to a pop culture reality television show and still get the Broadway votes? Tony’s a season professional that has go to use his experience to bring out the strengths of their dances. Marissa’s theatrical talents should help her hold the crowd.
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas. I think the DWTS producers found a new audience niche with celebrity mothers. Tia Carrere started it, but Jennie Garth marketed mommyhood to the max. Her vignettes featuring her kids and telling stories about balancing dance practices with being a full time mom pulls at the heartstrings of mothers everywhere. Is that the angle for former Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi? Kristi has two daughters and is the founder of the Always Dream Foundation benefiting children, but can she dance? As a figure skater, you have to figure some of her background translates to the dance world, and it’s up to her young but talented partner, Mark Ballas, to bring about that transformation. Have the pair had an early start?
There you go, a look at the twelve new celebrities of Dancing with the Stars. Hey where’s Maksim? Was last season’s loss in the finals too crushing? Oh, I see, he needs a break. Too bad, I think he really established himself as a dancer and choreographer last season and would’ve had momentum this season. He could’ve partnered with Kristi.

I don’t know much about politics and our voting system, but I surely know a good ole beatdown when I see one. That was the result of Hawaii’s Democratic caucus yesterday with “local boy” Barack Obama giving Hillary Clinton a 76% to 24% vote punishment. 76 to 24? That is a beatdown. That’s like if the UH Men’s Basketball team were to play UCLA and get smoked 24 to 76. Painful.
Even though envoy, Chelsea Clinton, enraptured the state during her visit, it still wasn’t enough to rally the Clinton campaign. The local Dems still like the hip, cool brother from Punahou.
And Chelsea was a hit in the Islands with fans showing their support. Check out these eager (but non-caucus voting) fans meeting Chelsea.
