The iPod Nano is Little!
Fed up with my faltering first generation iPod Shuffle, I finally made the leap and bought a third generation iPod Nano.
Even with its new wide form factor, the Nano is little and very thin. It’s unreal! Check out the pics…

In the battle of rap stars, Kanye West’s Graduation is leading 50 Cent’s Curtis in first week sales. But each respective album is trailing sales of their previous releases, Late Registration for West and The Massacre for 50.
Will 50 Cent really retire his solo rap career if outsold by Kanye? Or will Britney Spears (and MTV) be the savior of rap music?

Okay, that’s it! That’s the final straw for my faltering iPod Shuffle. Just look!

The foam covering for my Shuffle’s earbud is ripping! Can’t have that now can we? It’s time for an upgrade. Might as well get a little video and support a worthy cause at the same time. 😉
Only one week left before the release of Kanye West’s Graduation on September 11. 50 Cent and Kanye have some rivalry going on with both artists releasing their latest on the same day. 50 says he’ll hang it up if Kanye’s sales are superior.
Kanye is hitting his stride right now. His first single, Stronger, is blowing up and is currently the Number 1 selling song at the iTunes Store. And now MySpace is featuring Kanye on its Music Channel this week.
50 Cent should be a little worried right about now…

My mind grows weaker yet. The latest evidence is yet another purchase from Fergie’s The Duchess. I already bought the mind numbing Fergalicious and the sugary Glamorous. Now I am the owner of Big Girls Don’t Cry.
Maybe I should start taking Ginkgo or at least “be up in the gym just working on my (mental) fitness.”
iTunes finally succumb and joined the widget revolution. Introducing the My iTunes service that simply shows your iTunes favorites, purchases, or reviews on your web site or blog.
It’s pretty simple. You first need to enable My iTunes within the iTunes software by agreeing to Apple’s privacy statement. Once activated, you customize your widget, get the HTML code, and insert it into your site like so.
I’ll add a smaller version to my sidebar and clutter it up for a little while anyway.

The Cutting Crew sing the classic 80’s song (I Just) Died In Your Arms where everyone thinks they can nail that first line.
Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
But it’s not just “Oh,” it’s more like “o-AH!” You know what I mean. If you don’t, here’s how it goes.
Want a remixed techno version? Go check out iTunes and listen to Leana’s rendition, especially the Eric Kupper Radio Mix.
o-AH!

In The Sound of Music, Julie Andrews sang about a few of my favorite things which started me thinking about a few of my favorite things. There’s the obvious stuff that I usually talk about, Apple, Nike, Starbucks, Google, but I have some others.

Here’s my philosophy about brands and stuff that I like. I’m a believer of “you get what you pay for.” Cheap things generally tend to be, well, cheap. I’m willing to pay a bit more for quality. I don’t necessarily need the best, but I don’t want the bargain basement stuff either. Quality and room for growth are deciding factors for me.
One of my favorite things is speakers from Polk Audio. I’ve had speakers from Polk for years. First and foremost, they sound great, but they also look great. They have a nice styling and aren’t too exotic looking, just a clean and classic design. Their prices are reasonable too.
While looking to redo a 5.1/7.1 surround sound system using Polk speakers, this is what I’d do. First, the beauty of a surround sound system is the audio acoustics provided by 5 to 7 speakers scattered throughout a room. Now with little people around the house, easily-tippable floor standing speakers are child hazards. I want to reduce the clutter of speakers in a room, get the speakers safely located, and yet keep the surround sound experience.

This is possible with Polk’s SurroundBar speaker system. This single, long cabinet houses seven speakers that simulates the front, center, and rear channels. You can set the SurroundBar above or below your television set and get those floor standing speakers out of the way.
While the SurroundBar does 5.1 audio, you can still use additional speakers for a better surround effect. To reduce even more speaker clutter, I’d look at in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. While in-ceiling speakers are said not to be ideally located acoustically, you can’t beat the zero floor space needed. Polk has a family of ceiling speakers, and a pair of RC60i is good enough. Low profile, aim-able tweeters, and again quality sound.
To finish up a surround system, you have to remember the .1 which is the subwoofer. The bass fills out a room and makes sounds richer. Polk makes a reasonably priced 10-in subwoofer in the PSW10. Stick this attractive box in the corner of your room, and you’re done.
Polk Audio speakers, one of my favorite things.

My faltering first generation iPod Shuffle is acting up again. For awhile, it was working fine, but while out for a run yesterday, it went back to playing only a few songs over and over.
I always use my Shuffle in shuffle mode so by chance, I tried the “other” mode where the music plays in sequence. Hey, all the songs play in this mode! Good enough for me and sure beats hearing the same songs over and over.

Myong’s Madness and Beagles Are People Too recently featured posts about what music’s playing on their iPods. Here’s my list of 16 songs playing on my Shuffle:
Some slow stuff but mostly remix and techno music.
After eating some candy and experiencing a sugar high comes the inevitable sugar low. During this low when I needed more sugar to boost up my system, I went and bought this.
